since oncologists care for people w/ cancer, my guess is that 'hematoncologists' care for people with cancers of the blood.
(since 'hemato' = Greek for blood)

it is a specialty of medicine. It deals with heme (blood) and oncology (cancer).
Typically one would consult them if a patient had anemia or other problems with blood. They deal with some of the long term management of those problems, or if the primary doc couldnt figure it out. Also they help if a patient had cancer. They help to figure out chemotherapy stuff.
