Actually, the first mention of "Hell" is from the valley of Hinnom, where trash was burned outside Jerusalem. Please note that the Jews didn't (and many still don't) believe in a place of eternal torment. Heaven is a little fuzzier; there are many references to Sheol (an early Jewish concept of the afterlife) in the Old Testament, but no geographic location.
It was the Christians who introduced Heaven and Hell.

Matthew 27:60,said Jesus was in the grave, rock mass, etc.
Acts 2:31 says he was in hell. That means the grave.
God told Adam "for dust you are and to dust you will return."
The wages of sin is death.
Heaven is not on this planet. Job 1st chapter tells of Satan walking to and fro in the earth. Now standing before God he was no longer on the earth. Heaven is a place where Spirit creatures live. Satan was cast out of heaven in Revelation and down to the earth. My guess is it is on another planet or place out in the Universe. Got to die to find out.

Heaven
The dwelling place of God and of faithful spirit creatures; a realm invisible to human eyes. The Bible also uses the term “heaven(s)” in a variety of other senses; for example: to represent God himself, his organization of faithful spirit creatures, a position of divine favor, the physical universe apart from the earth, the expanse surrounding planet Earth, human governments under Satan’s domination, and the righteous new heavenly government in which Jesus Christ with his joint heirs are empowered by Jehovah to rule.
Hell
The word “hell” is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read “the grave,” “the world of the dead,” and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original-language words that are sometimes rendered “hell”; that is, they express them with the letters of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? The Hebrew she’ohl´ and its Greek equivalent hai´des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind.
(taken from reasoning from the scriptures)

Right here, right now, your experience is heavenly or a bit less so, maybe even a living hell...
Sin would be missing the mark spiritually, kind of like a spiritual poverty... and that is hell to experience
So if they're not locations, where is your destination? Don't ask me

good question, I have always pondered that myself, if you look at the descriptions of heaven and hell, it almost seems like they were talking about the sky and the earth. burning in hell, maybe they observed the volcanos and related that to hell. and floating upwards into heaven. as in the clouds floating in the sky and it could be the sun of god and not the son of god, maybe they supposed that the sun was a god since evry living thing on earth depends on it. my motto, question everything until there can be no other truth.

My belief... Heaven, purgatory, hell and earth all exist in the same exact place. They over lap. The only thing that separates them is what they are made up of. Earth is made of matter. Heaven, hell and purgatory are made of other things. Where you are is a place in heaven but is also a place in hell. It is kinda hard to explain but if you understand "parallel universes" you would understand my theory.
