if i wanted to get my hair cut where it's slightly shorter in back but, the front is longer....what would that style be called? does it work on anyone, or someone with med-thin hair? is it stylish or yesterday's news?

yes, it's an inverted bob. it's shorter and kinda 'stacked' in the back for poof and is longer in front. Check out the pic for clarification. NOT A MULLET!!

ooo I had this one time, they called it the inverted bob. Akward name, but that's what it was. Or do you mean shaved in the back?

I can't think of the name since it's probably just a variation of the 'bob' haircut. My sister always wanted me to do this to her hair. Thing is: Hair that is straight would probably be the best hair to do this to. curly hair would mean having to blow dry it straight all the time. Wavy would be the same. It's a cute hairstyle. My sister wanted red streaks in her's(she has dark dark brown hair-though she never got this haircut)

I call it a edgy look but be careful who you go to to get it cut.
