How long is a demobilization in the army? Is it included in the year of deployment or is it added on to the year of deployment?

So you would already be at the base you're stationed at when demobilization begins?

typically, the year deployement means boots on ground in the sandbox. the time period leading up to the deployment and the down time afterwards is additional. usually just a couple of weeks at the end, to turn in equipment, as well as be debriefed and get information on resources regarding PTSD.

I have demobilized twice - both times at Ft. Lewis.
Both times my demobilization was started on a Monday and I had departed post on the following Saturday.
If your unit is smart after you demobilize you will be given a 2-3 day pass and then required to report to your unit for another 2-3 days. This is a 'lesson learned.' There will always ne stuff that has to be unpacked and put away and a few soldiers who need to get some paperwork completed.
On the whole - expect about two weeks from the time you hit the USA to the time you start terminal leave.
And if you are asking about your own redeployment - a big 'Hooah' to you!

Demobilization happens after you return from your deployment, so it is added onto the end of the deployment time.

Mine took only 5 days.The Army wants to stop paying you as quickly as possible.(Reserves that is).
