one who makes a mistake, and learns from mistakes made....one that realizes that a mistake is only success waiting to happen....one who listens and learns rather than constantly talks....one who asks questions and listens to the answers given...and finally one who knows that they do not know it all and is willing to learn....this is an educated person

The usual definition of an educated person is one who has a lot of time studying, and a lot of degrees. Over my lifetime, I encountered enough people with college degrees who were really dumb. Racists. Couldn't handle their money. Bigoted. Intolerant of anyone with different viewpoints, or ethnicity.
So, I now define educated as one poster did, a certain amount of worldly wisdom. A person who understands the lessons of history and can apply them to today's society and world. A person who is not racist or bigoted. Literate. Can handle their money. Can sustain a marriage, and takes care of their own children if they are allowed to. Can get along with at least normal people from different backgrounds.

Pause for a moment. Look into yourself. Think about your true inner feelings. Then think of the opposite, and you will know what an educated person is.

i think an educated person is someone who has experienced alot in life, and knows things first hand. i think an important thing to becoming educated is being open minded. people who have lived sheltered lives are only educated about things they have experienced which isn't much unless you live life to its fullest.

Someone who is smart enough to know when they are wrong.
Someone who is smart enough to know when to speak, but more importantly, when to listen.
Someone who used what knowledge they have to better the world around them, and not to harm others.
That is an educated person.

One who looks at all sides of an issue before forming their opinion. One who's opinion reflects the way that they, having considered all sides logically, feel, not the way that the rest of the group feels.
