As I said, I'm only 17, my parents will not allow me to be emancipated, but wont allow me in the house. I've never gotten into any trouble with the law. And I don't want to be placed in CPS, since I only have one year until I would be kicked out. So I needed to know if there is some type of safe house or shelter that would take me since I'm only 17.

Why did they kick you out? What are the issues?

Where are you at? There are places here called "Safe Landing" that will help you at least for awhile. Try Salvation Army or a church.

Your parents should not have done that to you. It's not legal. I can understand that you don't want CPS but it might not be that bad. It would be much better than living on the streets and maybe winding up in some kind of trouble. After all, in a year, you can do anything you want.

Maybe one of your friend's parents would consider letting you live with them. That might not be ideal tho because you may wind up feeling like your friend is favored (naturally) and feel bad, possibly lose the friendship.

I don't know where you live but in Tennessee that is illegal. You are a minor and they are responsible for you and if there are other children in the house a social worker will investigate them and possibly remove them. They are obligated by law to support you. What they have done is abandonment and they can be charged by law. Perhaps you could tell them the law. Maybe they would rethink this and you could move back in at least until you found an alternative. Where ever you end up they are still financially responsible and need to pay.

yes, call the police.

No matter how old you are,
you CAN'T be thrown out of your home.

Evicted, of course, but you weren't evicted.

You probably don't want to go home,
and that is understandable.
The police will still be able to tell you
the options for your area.

Do you have a friend's house you can stay
just for the night until you can discuss things
with your family?

Oh, and your family "won't allow"
you to be emanicpated? That isn't their
choice. I don't think anyone has been
allowed emancipation--you have to file
for it.

I say: Join Job Corps. If I had a chance
to live those years again, I would have joined it.

Alot of states have an independent living program for 17 yr olds. Social services will do little for someone quickly aging out of the system. You say you are 17 but I'm sure you are so many months past your 17th birthday. Check the runaway shelters even though you did not run away they would help.

Got to a safe house (they have big yellow signs on the front of the building, almost every firestation is one). They will get you in touch with a social worker within the hour, a lot of bigger towns and cities have soime sort of half way house as emergency shelter.
Then work out what is going on at home, possibly get out or back, depending on what is what.
Good luck

legally your parents can't kick you out. That's called child abandonment and they can go to jail for that. They either have to let you get emancipated or make you a ward of the court, you can't just throw out your kids! Call the cops, a shelter can't take you either your not legal, your parents are financially responsible for you until 18. I would seriously call the police and get them to help you. BTW how do you have access to a computer?

Call the local Red Cross agency, see if you have a women's shelter around near you. Call the police to ask for local agencies and churchs that provide shelter. I don't know if it is legal for your parents to kick you out. See if you have a Dept of Human Services or concern near you. Defenitely call your local police station and explain your situation and see where they can take you, so that you are safe. Do you work? Have you finished high school?

Wish you luck and hope you find a safe home, but if you need help in anyway with the reason why they kicked you out you need to contact someone immediately. We all need to talk and we should'nt do it alone. There is someone that cares even if it's not your parents.

You didn't say where you are located. Try the phone book under shelters. They should be able to hook you up with a place. Or, try calling a battered women's and children's shelter. They are very caring and will help you find a safe place. Do this right away, for your sake. God bless you.
