Fantastic idea! Sweetie -- I got married in Las Vegas in January (this year). We got married at the chapel in one of the hotels. We also had a reception with 50 people who flew out there, and it was SOOOOOOOOOO reasonable! We also had a fantastic photographer who took photos of us at 7 of the hotels and the Vegas sign! Feel free to email me (make sure you put wedding in the subject), and I'll tell you more!
AND... let me just add for all of the negative comments -- the hotels are beautiful and very respectful and very concious of it being a special day. Our future children will not look down on us, because this is what we decided. I can LOOK back and say, WOW - had a great time, and once in a lifetime pics. Everyone had a great time, and really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Ok right off the bat....prostitution is NOT legal n Las Vegas, I would know I live here. Just because people have labeled it the "City of Sin" doesn't mean it can't be romantic.
Ok now down to your question :) Las Vegas has a lot of great areas that you can get married. Like I said I live here and my fiance and I are getting married in April 2007 at a Golf Club...very beautiful. But it does come down to what YOU want. If you're not sure about Vegas then sit down with your fiance and see what else you can come up with that would make you both happy. Back to the Vegas thing there are a lot of locations here that are inexpensive, beautiful and not the typical Vegas Chapel. Check this web site out there is a list of Vegas locations and range in price. http://www.perfectweddingguide.com/Las-Vegas/Ceremony_Locations.asp
Take it from me, I live here not these idiots that are spouting off what they don't know. There is SO much more to Vegas than the strip. But I'm sure no matter where you choose it will be beautiful!!! Good Luck

Vegas is the way to avoid the hassles of dealing with all the issues. You can get married at almost any time of the day. The wedding license has no wait and is only $55. There are many different chapels from classy to cheesy. The best place to get some info is online.. Go to a vegas wedding search engine and let your fingers do the walking...
by the way.. that's where I will be married in 5 days.

You have a choice of over 70 chapels there, and you can do anything from very cheap and cheerful ($25 for a drive through) through to elaborate ($20,000 plus at the Wynn) at one of the hotel chapels. Choose your budget and you'll have a huge amount of choice - there are some very pretty independent chapels including Graceland Wedding Chapel, Little Church of the West and Little Chapel of the Flowers.
The other benefit of a Vegas wedding is that the majority of chapels offer packages, which means that you pay one price and get flowers and photographs included - each package differs. The website below lets you compare every package in the city by cost and theme/non-theme and has pictures for most of the chapels too.
Good luck!

i wish i had done that instead of having a wedding in my home town. it is way less trouble to put together and in the end it is just the start of your life that you really are so eager for. so i would encourage you to think about it. weddings are overrated, marriages are neglected and overlooked. think about it. good luck to you.
p.s. you will already be there for your honeymoon ; )

u have to remember that most only get married once and it is suppose to be the best day of your life... so if you cant see urself getting married in vegas, dont do it. getting married there just takes the romance out of it. come on--- it's the city of sin and legalized prostitution.
