Here is a wonderful site that allows you to calculate in exactly what you would be buying for your baby and how much it would cost (approximately) for a baby in the first year.

Well first off it depends on what kind of health insurance you have, co pays and prescriptions can run a pretty penny..Baby showers usually cover the basics, clothes, stroller etc. Breast feeding for any portion of the first year can save on formula and is better for the babies health.
One of the biggest misconceptions is when people buy babies 50.00 sneakers and shoes, they grow out of them so fast it is a waste of money and makes no difference if the shoes cost 50.00 or 10.00 and that comes straight from my pediatrician.....
I would say in the end around 5-10 thousand dollars the first year easily.

If you have to ask about the financial part are you truely ready for the emotional part? Why are you concerned about brand name items? Some generics are just as good. But as for an answer to your question. For you? About $15,000+ if you are only going to buy brand name items and if you have insurance. For me it was alot less cause I bought generic or Walmart brand where I could.

According to Dr. Phil - it is around $10K the first year alone. Then you will need to add the cost of saving for college and extra activities (childrens museums, science centers, etc).

Depends on how much you love the kid. *evil laugh* No, I'm kidding, you'll learn that nothing you want is important as long as your kid gets everything he or she wants and needs...
