I would not worry too much about these minor issues. It is not forbidden to drink while standing. It is disliked (makrooh). I would focus more on my 5 daily prayers before going into these issues. That fajr is hard. This has been said because it is good manners, and it is a good ettiquette to have. The reason why we it is better to sit while we drink and eat is because shaytan (Satan) drinks and eats while he is standing. Also medical studies have been done by non-Muslims and they concluded that it is better for your digestive system to sit while you eat and drink. We do the opposite of satan. Satan also eats with his left hand and does not start with "In the name of God." Important etiquettes include saying Bismillah (In the name of Allah) before you start, eat with your right hand, eat to the plate or portion closest to you (bad manners to reach over others or touch other people's portion of food), and finally Thank and Praise God afterwards. I would learn the dua after a meal. All Praise and Thanks be to Allah who nourished our bodies and made us Muslims (submitt to God alone).

Drinking while sitting is desirable but not obligatory and that is why the Prophet sometimes drank while standing to explain that doing so is permissible. Yet, it is better to drink while sitting.

I haven't found anything regarding the quantity but drinking water is good for health. There is a hadith that you should drink water in 3 gulps or take 3 breaths in between and invoke Allah's name before drinking. Also, the Prophet forbade breathing into the vessel as bad odour or spit may travel into the drink.

I hope this helps!

sounds like good advice, and at least eight glasses a day is the current US health suggestion. But why is this directed at muslims, you should be asking the US Surgeon General about this recomendation.

It's recommended by prophet Mohammad but I really don’t know why we were told as young children that we should sit before we drink but I don’t remember why.
