You have lots and lots of time to decide what you want to do with your life. Many, if not most, of your friends will change their minds before they get out of high school. When I think of the lives and careers my friends and I imagined when we were in 8th grade, I would say only about 20% of us were even close to the way our lives worked out. And that's fine! Keep an open mind - you never know what is going to inspire you. My son was well on his way to a career in computer engineering when he took a "first responder" first aid course and found out he really enjoyed emergency medicine. The short version is that he dropped out of his computer science major in college, changed his course of study, and now loves his job as a paramedic. He was in his early 20s when he discovered that he loves emergency medicine. (By the way, when he was in 8th grade, he wanted to be a ranger in a state or national park.) Enjoy being a kid. You'll spend most of your life as an adult! And you will find a career field that excites and inspires you.

8th grade and you don't have your whole life planned out yet? Get with it kid!

Seriously, I bet over half your friends don't end up going to college for what they say they want to do now. And of those that do, half of them will change majors.

You have plenty of time. The worst thing you can do is rush into a job you are going to hate.

You really shouldn't worry in 8th grade. Given some time, you'll probably still want to change your career path. So, if some of your friends say they want to follow a certain career path, in a couple years or so, they might want to change it. You're still young, and you still have tonnes of time to decide. I know that I didn't choose a career path until I was in my last year of high school, and I'm still doing fine. So relax, do be worried.

Haha, no. They're going to change their minds about a million times anyways.

Just start exploring what types of things you're interested in and think of corresponding careers but don't stress about it.

No you souldn't be worried about that yet. Your still a kid you'll have plenty of time of adult hood but a little bit of time to just be a kid. Worrie about that later and just be a kid.
