For some people being clingy makes them want to bolt towards the door. I personally would not want someone calling me two to three times a day. Especially if I talk to you everyday. Once is enough unless you have to ask or tell me something important. Pet names at home is enough. When they are away(traveling), yes I miss them, and will e-mail or call to make sure they made it safely and they are having fun. Holding hands is okay. But being all over him where he can't breath is too much. Kissing in public? Am I trying to prove a point? I love him but their is a time and place for everything. For some people they feel like they have to hug and kiss and etc. just for everyone to see which comes across as being desperate for recognition. Or saying yea he's mines.

1. Calling someone multiple times a day...just to talk... is a bit clingy. I mean... they should hook up and hang out... or maybe have one long conversation. if the calls are about something.... specific..ex: plans they are making...then its ok.

2. Pet names in public? Calling someone babe or hun is fine. I've done that before... you get so used to calling someone it, that you dont think about it.

3. IMing someone is a bit clingy..especially if its just to fill time. This person obviously doesn't have enough things to do in their own lives, so they constantly think of the other person.

4. Hugging? what the heck is wrong with hugging someone? "Holding" someone in public? i mean.... groping someone inappropriately would be bad... but having your arm around someone isn't bad.

5. KISSING? Kissing in public can be bad if poorly timed or in bad taste. But seriously...are you like watching someone from afar? It would be different if the two were making out and lacked any sort of discretion.

Clinginess is when one of the individuals feels more attached to the other person than that person feels in return. That person "clings" to them in an effort to keep them near. When both parties are intimate and care about each other the relationship is open to whatever they choose. If they want to hold hands in public... their choice...afterall.... its a 2 person tango. Same thing with hugging and kissing.

Everything is fine except for no.1. That is way too much and not a lot of guys like clingy females.
