He's just bein' a dog. Kids will be kids and same type thing for dogs.
I gotta give you a gold star for not hitting your dog!!!! Of course sometimes they do need a lite, very lite swat on the butt. It's the act of doing it that hurts more than the physical thing.

Dogs will be dogs! Maybe he is just feeling playfully! He wont understand why you are mad at him-so give him a break. Wait a while for him to calm down and try rising him. You could also lay towels down in the bathroom and rise him in the tub then towel him off-out smart him! Dogs like dirt and mud, mine did this to, so I just gave up and did the indoor thing! Good luck, keep in mind lead with love-he loves you no matter what do not spoil his trust from you by hitting him!

He is just having a good time...he cannot dry off with a towel - so he is using the ground. My dogs get crazy after a bath - and run as fast as they can - if they are outside - they will roll in the sand.
Tie him so that as soon as you are done washing - you have a hold of him.

It's instinctual-
It could be as simple as an itch - When you wash a dog, you take off natural oils that protect his skin. The soap you are using may be causing a reaction and/or just feel darn strange. Or he is cold and this gives him warmth (similar to what elephants do in the wild after washing themselves they throw dirt on themselves to block the sun). Hence, he is trying to get back to his old self.

HaHa! OMG - I feel for ya! I have been in the dog business for years and every single time I give them a bath if I don't lock the gate then they are straight for the dirt. That is what they are supposed to do. He is just being a dog. Maybe you could keep him inside until he dries next time?

Well first mistake was washing your dog outside. Why not wash him inside in warm water? How could you be mad at him for being a dog? Dogs roll in junk because they are trying to smell different from dogs.

Maybe you did such a good job the first time, He wanted you to do it again. But seriously there is nothing wrong with him. Dogs will be dogs, Like someone already said, he was just trying to dry off. Or perhaps the shampoo gave him an itch.
Sorry but I just can't stop laughing....Give the dog a treat.

Firstly don't hit your dog. He surely has not the brains to work out that hey!! Mum just washed me, I just rolled in the dirt and that was wrong.
You have made him fearful now, that is why he won't return back to you.
You will have to work at regaining his trust.

My dog's getting more hard headed as she gets older. Maybe yours is too. Or maybe he has a killer sense of humor!! Who knows why dogs do what they do. Take a deep breath and give him a kiss on his nose......after you wash him off.

thats funny.. maybe try washing him in the bathtub instead. Dogs will do all kinds of crazy stuff when they are wet and smell different. they dont understand that you just cleaned them. they only understand that you stuck them in funny smelling water and if they choose not to like it theyll fix the problem (problem in their eyes not yours)
