Mormonism is not Christian.

WARNING
There are two cults going door-to-door: Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses. They claim to be Christian religions, but they are not.
Mormonism teaches:
- God used to be a man on another planet and Mormon members
may become gods of their own worlds.1
- There are many gods.2
- The Trinity is three separate Gods.3
- Entrance into celestial heaven is by the consent of God and the
Mormon prophet Joseph Smith.4
- God has a body of flesh and bones.5
- God is married and produces spirit babies by having physical
relations with his goddess wife.6
- Jesus, Satan, and all of us are spirit brothers and sisters
procreated in a pre-existent spirit life.7
- God had relations with Mary to make Jesus’ body.8
- You must shed your own blood for the forgiveness of some sins.9
- Good works are necessary for the forgiveness of sins.10
Be careful. Rarely will they mention these 'higher' doctrines. Therefore, you really don't know what they are teaching until long after you have joined. Be warned.
The Jehovah's Witnesses teach:
- Their church organization is the prophet of God.11
- Jesus returned invisibly in 1914.12
- Blood transfusions are sinful.13
- The Holy Spirit is God's impersonal active force.14
- Only their church members will be saved.15
- Jesus was an angel who became a man.16
- Jesus did not rise from the dead physically.17
- There is no Trinity.18
- Good works are necessary for the forgiveness of sins.19
Be careful. Jehovah's Witnesses will want to begin a home 'Bible study' with you. What they really want is for you to join their religion.
These groups are non-Christian cults because they deny the true biblical doctrines of Jesus and salvation. First, Mormonism says Jesus is the brother of the Devil.7 J.W.'s teach that he is an angel who became a man.16 These teachings are not biblical.
Second, both these cults erroneously say that in order to be saved you must cooperate with God by doing good works. The Bible says that salvation is a free gift from God.21 The Bible condemns the addition of our works to the finished sacrifice of Jesus.22 Galatians 2:21 says that if salvation comes by works ("if righteousness comes through the Law"), then Jesus died needlessly. Salvation comes by God's grace through faith alone, not by our works21 which are impure.29 Simply put, they each preach a false message of salvation.
The Bible teaches: there is only one God;23 God is spirit;24 Jesus' sacrifice cleanses from all sin;25 Jesus is the only way to God;26 all who receive Jesus as Savior will be saved;27 and Jesus is God in flesh 20 who rose from the dead in the same body He died in.28
Side 2
These are some of the things the Christian church has always believed. These two cults distort them and thus lead many into eternal damnation. Why? Because...
Only the Jesus of the Bible saves, not the brother of Satan (Mormonism), not an angel made into a man (Jehovah's Witnesses). Faith works only when you trust someone who is true.
The Mormons and J.W.'s are good people and we love them; but, they are misled.30 They do not know that the true gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus for our sins and that we receive His forgiveness by faith alone (faith in the true Jesus). Satan has blinded them.30 Jesus said that if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the pit.31 That is why this Christian ministry is exposing these cults, so you won't be deceived.
If you want to be assured of the forgiveness of your sins and have peace with God, then you must realize that you have sinned against God,32 and are separated from Him.33 Then, ask Jesus into your life; ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and save you. He will.27 He is Savior and Lord and He is as close as the call of your heart. Then read your Bible and go to church. At least now you know which two not to join. Eternity is a long time to be wrong.

When a member of the LDS Church states that they are Christian they have lied, even if they do not realize it. Although they believe in Jesus Christ, their perversion of the Biblical Christ is against the word of God, eg. the Bible. They only believe in parts of the Bible, those which they believe have been interpreted correctly. Ask one of them which parts have been interpreted incorrectly and watch the dance begin.
As said by many others answering this question, they are a cult, pure and simple. Brain washing is indeed the method utilized to train missionaries and young minds are easily shaped, especially within the confines of the Missionary Training Center located near Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. They are trained to convert, but do they want converts which are poor and need welfare or those who are fairly well off and can become leaders in their faith? One person who converted from the Catholic religion in the LDS Church, went on a mission, describes this exact thing. Reading her story is well worth the time spent.
Who did Christ help? Was it the traders marketing their goods in the Temple or the blind, the infirm, and the meek?
As an ex-mormon I can state, for a certainty, they are not Christians.
PS Do Christians worship multiple gods as do Mormons? Those of the LDS faith believe in the God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. That is three gods... I myself am a monotheist and believe there is one GOD. Ask yourself this question if you are Mormon and truthfully respond.

Over the years, the two main important things that I have learned about mormons and Jahova witness is that they are way too involved in your personal life and if they dont like how you live or what you do, they kick you out of their churchs. The JW's family will have little or nothing to do with you if you leave their church. Other then their interference in your life, I have nothing against mormans, but JW's can keep their cult to themselves. I dont think I have ever heard a morman call themselves "christians" just mormans. I have know many mormans and even visited a morman church a couple of times.
True christians will accept you, no matter how you live your life. I call myself a christian but I sure know that I am far from perfect, and I accept others for who they are. That doesnt mean I like what they do, but who says they like what I do either.

The Mormons are a very moral people--no smoking, no drinking, no gambling, etc. But theirs is NOT an acceptable Christian faith. The Christian Bible is a "sealed" book, not to be added to. Read Verses 18, 19 of Chapter 22 of Revelations. Because of the Book of Mormon, the LDSaints have added to the Christian Bible, and that is forbidden. Thus, the Book of Mormon is a false text for a false religion.

The Mormon's are not members of the Christian Church which is divided by factions. They are a Christianized Cult
with very different views of scripture and a whole other book that was produced in the 1850's around the time many spiritualist groups were around. They have the right to their faith but they are not Christians

Yes!!! I am a mormon, born and raised, and I think the biggest misconception of the mormon, or more correctly, LDS church is that we are not christians. WE ARE CHRISTIANS!! we believe in Jesus Christ and in God the Eternal Father, we believe in the Bible and follow His commandments. The only thing that seperates the LDS church from other christian churches is this wonderful true book called the Book of Mormon. If you'd like to learn more I recommend you go to http://www.lds.org/ . I wish I could stress to you how great and wonderful my life is because of the church, I can't even imagine what it would be like if I wasn't LDS. Hope I helped!!!

I almost joined them... over 30 yrs time I met with many many of them. read all they gave me to read. Listened to their words...asked questions and listened to their answers... came very close to joining... but for some reason something felt hollow in all of it. I finaly did some reading on my own in public library and looked in other history books... I could not find any thing to back up the claims of the things they were saying except the Words of the missionaries... and their own self published history... I final just gave up trying to find any "facts" to back up what they were saying...and if asked about things they would only go to their own history and the unsubstiated claims of their "presidents"... mimicing what J.Smith said...
I was not of the Christian Faith at that time and even I as a confermed Bible basher and anti Bible Thumper could see that even those christian nuts had much more to offer than the mormons did... about ten years after I quit listening to the mormons recruting ploys... I Finaly heard and answered God's call to me. That was just over six years ago... I now Know and have the absolute assurance of my Salvation by God's promise to me...
I can tell you with the assurance of The Truth of my Salvation that, IN NO WAY are mormons christians... NO WAY.

It's true that they call themselves Christians. However, it is NOT true that they are Christians merely by calling themselves that. I've spoken to them and even read their "holy" book, and nothing in there even smells like Biblical Christianity. The only burning in the bosom I get is the anger that so many young people are being misled by a cult.

Mormons, or more correctly, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, are indeed Christians. We believe that Jesus is our savior and that he died for our sins. Check out the official webapge at www.lds.org and click on "basic beliefs."

Those I have talked with never carry a bible, and act as though they are brain washed. They claim one thing and do something else. I pity them, they seem like nice people, just horribly wrong.
Yes, they consider themselves to be Christians but they don't follow Christ's teachings.
