It may be a choice or it was how they were brought up. They might have medical reasons for being a vegetarian.

Every time you pick up that fork or spoon and put food in your mouth you are choosing - so yes being a vegitarian is a personal choice. The reasons are varied - from religious to not liking meat to making a political statement. For some it is the only food in the house, and others are trying to diet or are anorexic.

Most of the time, yes. Although, there are occasions when one's body cannot keep up with the damands of digesting harsh proteins. Some people simply can't digest meat properly, so they are basically forced to become vegetarians.
For those out there who have chosen to become vegetarians, power to you! I've been trying to wean myself off of meat for a couple weeks now, and I'll hopefully be a vegetarian within a month or so. Being a vegan or vegetarian is difficult and demanding, not to mention nearly impossible for those of us who live in a home with meat-eaters who don't want to buy different meal options for those of us who want to become vegetarians...
Here's to all of the vegetarians out there!

i am a vegertarian and i am 14 i have been one for 10 months now and ii became one because of my social studies teacher digusting me out of not eating red meat ever again..he talked about some grusome stuff they used to do to the animals and how they were torchered but most of all that grossed me out was how he said when you're eating steak that brown juice at the bottom of the plate in his words "isn't cherry juice...it's bloooooood" he used to do really funny voices and i loved him so i listened to what he said !! lol

Yes they can voluntarily choose a vegetarian diet. It's a plant based diet that seems to be very healthy.
