Realizing I was fat because I was hiding. Coming to that realization and really owning it has allowed me to deal with that issue. If I didn't deal with the reasons I decided to put on a lot of weight I wouldn't be able to lose it, it would have been too threatening.

Being fat isn't about the joy of food. It's about being unaware and letting yourself go numb. And then maybe something jolts you out of that and you see yourself the way others see you and suddenly you realize how fat you really are, how you are letting your life slip away. That might trigger some shame but work through it, you are getting to the core of your mental baggage. Once you start dealing with that, losing weight is much easier and becomes a positive thing, not the drudgery of a diet.

Good luck!

Turtle girl you are sexy at any weight but you will just have to get used to the whistles and cat calls from Mexican contruction workers now that you are 'all that'.

I know you don't think you deserve this newfound attention but you do...and may I also say...nice back porch, baby!

When my girlfriend at the time said "you are getting to skinny and I don't like skinny guys"....yet I wasn't skinny was just average. It made me feel like she didn't want me or find me attractive anymore.
