Kathy, i usually say u should listen 2 your parents, but in this case i cant see where u are wrong at all. I'm sure your parents only want what is best 4 you and they are probably like many other perents are about their daughter,...nobody is worthy of u. It is unfortunate that many ppl still worry about race, but they do.
I dont think it matters, if u are in luv then u are in luv. good luck

Yes race does matter, but every once in a while, love rules above it above it all.

We have all grown up in a society where we prefer to be with our own kind, that way, we will have easier means of knowing one another and what displeases who. Your parents are just cautious of your safety and your comfortability in mingling with another race. They dont want you to to feel "unaccepted" in another society. They have seen the world longer than you did, have more experiences, and they are not making the "race" issue hard just to displease you. They just want to protect you.

In a relationship, although its true that you are together because of the guy, it is a fact that the guy has relatives too, from his own race. And no matter how we avoid them, we can't. Sooner or later, we will have to deal with them. Just like your boyfriend who will also have to go along with your own kin.

It's best that you weigh the consequences. Make sure that everybody around the two of you are open to the idea and nobody is a racist. If not, then the first thing that you should do is to make them realize that it's ok. If you decide to go ahead, stand by your decision even if you succeed or fail in it.

Good luck.

I don't think it's so much an issue with race as it is culture and religion. The differences will begin to surface when you need to address how you worship, if you should go so far as to get married, how you plan to raise your children, and a whole world of issues with extended family members and traditions. This is something the two of you really need to discuss in length with each other and your families.

It can work as long as you love each other race doesn't mattter tell your parents to get their heads out of thier asses and relize whats goin on. Let them know that when they fell in love no matter what the race no one would have tried to pull them apart. If you really love him you won't let your parents get in the way love is stronger than anything and im sure he'll be around alot longer than your parents.

It really shoulndn't matter what race you're from. 'Cause if you live in America (which I'm assuming you do) you know that the USA is all about having freedom and everybody is equal.

If you really like this person, it could work out. Stick to what your heart is telling you to do and the personality of the person instead of what race they're from.

I love this boy who's the opposite race than me. I totally disagree with ur parents. If 2 ppl r in love, it doesn't matter where they're from and all that. My aunt is American and my uncle is Hungarian!

Color has nothing to do with character. Be with who 'you' want to be with. Not who you're parents want to be with. They're probably just trying to help you, but at a certain point in your life "Momma knows best" doesn't apply to everything. They're still your parents so it's important to listen to what they have to say, and then go out and make your own decision. (Depending on how old you are.)

some people are still ignorant in the world after all these years that's why it's up to us to live our own lives and not live for our parents I think it's wrong for someone to tell anyone they can't date someone from another race if that person treats you good and respects you who cares if they are green or purple

Honestly, I dont see any thing wrong with it. After all, every one is human right? We all bleed, we all love and feel pain. Why does it matter what color you are if we are all the same?

Race should be completely irrelevant however individuals tend to believe what they want to believe and race IS a factor for many people.
