In Luke 1:28, why did the archangel Gabriel greet Mary by the title "kecharitomene" which, translated from the Greek, literally means "one who has been made full of Grace" or "one who has always been full of grace"? This was BEFORE she was to be overshadowed by the Holy Spirit.

impossble_dream... the greek word used for Stephen is not the same greek word for Mary. The translation for Stephen would be more like that at that point he became filled with grace. But the meaning of the greek word for Mary means that she always was full of grace.

I did not say anything about Mary being divine. Why do people always hear what I don't say?

Because she was born without sin. Even before she was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit, she was 'made full of grace.'

This is the first time I see that Greek word and it's incredible!

The title was used because the angel knew that Mary had been preserved for original sin because she was to be the mother of God. In other words, God gave her a special grace that made her sinless, a grace that no other human in history has had.

Do not confuse this with divinity. Her sinlessness does not make her a god or goddess. She was still only human. However, God preserved her because she was to be the vessel to would contain the glory and power of Almight God. Otherwise, the incarnation could never have happened because it would have killed her.

Mary was human, so i cant say she was totally sinless, but what I did read here in luke 1:26-27 was this

Luke 1:26-27 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, name Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

While Mary wasnt sinless she was however a virgin........she choose to wait till marriage and keep herself pure. This is why she found favor with God she was pure in the sense that she had never been with a man and because of this and her willingness to do God's will she was choosen to carry and give birth to His son Jesus.

Grace is getting what you don't deserve. No one deserves anything from the Lord for we are all sinners, but through His grace we receive things we don't deserve. I hope this is helpful if not I am sorry.

You are Christian? Impossible. Christians are people who believe anything a child molester tells them because they are afraid of hell and how other "lambs" will think of them. Mary was a slut who ****** around on Joseph. I can see it now, Mary on Maury Povich. Ofcourse she said she was a virgin, she would have been killed. And the child was a delusional freak named Jesus that was so crazy the Jews even killed him because he wouldn't shut up... the rest is history.

The Bible says that God knows us since before the creation of time and before we were in our mothers womb. We are chosen by God before hand to do his work, to be part of his eternal plan. In verse 26 it speaks of Elizabeth being pregnant with John and John came before Jesus to prepare the way.
We who believe are also chosen to be part of Gods eternal plan but we have a choice to follow him or not...sadly most chose not too.
