I've got a wedding to go to in a few days. Is it okay to wear jeans to a wedding as long as you dress it up? I was going to wear some heels and a very dressy shirt. Also some very elegant jewelry. Is this disrespectful, or not proper wedding ediqette?

It depends on the wedding. Some things are very low key and jeans would be ok, but as a general rule, I'd say no. Go with dressier trousers if you're not comfortable in a skirt or dress. A wedding is a day that deserves to be treated like something special.

I would say no. I say wear a dress, or a nice appropriate shirt, wear a nice skirt that will go nice with the color of the shirt. Then high-heels. If you are not comfortable wearing high-heels wear small high-heels. I got to tell you I love jeans but I NEVER saw anyone go to a wedding wearing one. If you wear jeans to a wedding people will think you are dissrispectful (Sorry if I spelled that wrong) and that you don't really care... So if you want people to think you care and you want to look the right way, I suggest you do what I wrote. Good luck and have fun!!! :)

It is not proper etiquette to ever wear jeans to a wedding, unless you are attending a wedding on horseback. Not even if they are your $290 swarovski crystal seven jeans. Wear a skirt or a dress and make it appropriate to the formality of the wedding. No jeans. No flip flops. No white, red, fuschia, bright orange, or anything else that might detract from the bride.

Day wedding or night wedding? Indoor or outdoor? Casual or stated formal?

If you can figure these things out, then you will have your answer.

Personally (and believe me, I HATE dresses), I would ALWAYS wear a dress or at the very least a nice pair of slacks, to a wedding.

Bottom line -- try to have a little respect.

I think you should never wear jeans to a wedding because that always looks casual and looks tacky, you should wear a nice dress or nice slacks with a dressy shirt!

It depends. Is this a day or evening wedding? Indoors or outdoors? Casual or elegant? If it is a day wedding, outdoors, and casual then I say wear the jeans!!

I think it is respectful to dress up. It shows how important a wedding is. I'm sure pants other than denim/jeans would be nice with the other parts of your outfit you described.

You definitely shouldn't wear jeans to a wedding, substitute a pair of dress pants if you don't want to wear pantyhose.

No. Please do not wear jeans of any sort to a wedding unless they've specified it's in the woods at a campsite or something. Get a skirt and blouse or a dress.

if the invitation did not say if it was formal or not ask the bride or mother of the bride CZ if the wedding is formal you will be in embaressed cu you will stick out like a sore thumb I just had a wedding and I wanted in formal like beach luau informal shorts etc but the groom (my hubby want to wear jeans) I said that was fine and his mom said no way a 3 piece suit ... OK coarse so she won! but you don't want to feel like every one is focused on you It would be OK if it was because you looked wonderful but not cool if you were out of place with your out fit!!! good luck!!!
