well, I've had a friend like that for 5 years, and now we have been in a committed relationship for 6 months. i think the flirting in the beginning was me checking out him, and him checking out me as far as personality. He and I both were not involved with dating until about 2 years ago, we were swapping bad date stories. I think it is jsut part of the dance. I used to get really frustrated, hoping he'd step up and ask me out.
He would say things that were a bit rude or obnoxious, but I think he isn't as senstive as I am. And I'd let him know it was hurtful. It stopped.He didn't know that I felt hurt.
Sometimes I would think he's insecure and uncertain if we'd get along.
I'm glad it went the way it did. He expressed his feeling to me, and since we've known eachother as long as we have, we trust and had a good idea what the other is like before getting involved. It actually makes me feel special, because he chose me and after he got to know me. What a compliment!
