The average stroll is about 3 miles an hour, so time yourself. If you walk about 20 minutes it is probably about a mile. Walk for 30 minutes just to cover yourself.

Get a pedometer and follow the calibration instructions. Then go take a walk around it and see how far it is and do the math. They have decent pedometers at Wal-Mart.
