Actually yes. But only during an acute anxiety attack or acute stress. You can have a heart attack but that usually only occurs in people that have a heart condition. An anxiety attack can make you FEEL like you are having a heart attack.

Hi Rebecca.. anxiety attacks are horrible.. I had one years an years ago.. when i was visiting the education board to start my kids in new schools in a different area.. it came on .. all i could do was run.. and run i did.. But the symptoms.. you certainly feel like you are going to die.. all I can say is.. don't do what i did.. just go outside if you can.. take deep breaths.. think........I'm calm.. I'm calm.. still taking deep breaths.. and you will come out of it.. xxxxx lots of hugs

i have anxiety attacks and have wondered the same thing ... i've been told "no, people don't die from an anxiety attack" ... but i think that as much as it is not the norm to die from one that it is possible if you have a pre-existing health condition a person could be at risk of having a heart attack, say, or a stroke ... but, truly, i don't think it is often.

Yes, but the chances of doning so are slim. I'd still recommened going to the ER during each attack, just to be safe. For the most part, though, as long as you don't worry about it, you'll be fine.

Thinking clearly is the key.

Here's to your health during the attacks!
