I'm not against any home that can afford (no matter how much struggle it takes) to have one parent stay home with their children. I think having a parent at home is of way more benefit than not having one, no matter the gender of the parent in question. :)

Ignorence, "old-fashioned" traditionalist thinking and gross misinformation, that's why. I have been a stay at home dad before, and did it for 3 years while recovering from injuries and looking for work. My kids are far from ruined, and the simple fact that they have seen their father in something other than a traditional "bread-winner" role in the family household can only benefit them later on in life, as that can only broaden their future interpretations of what a father can and should do to contribute to his family household on a daily basis. On top of that, many of those of the older generations are stuck in that archaic line of thinking that a mother is the caregiver and the father is the wage earner, period. In their day, the father was usually the one that left the household when a marriage went sour or their ideas about how they want to live the rest of their lives changed, leaving the kids behind to be raised by their mother. And they are the people that are currently the lawmakers, the lawyers and the judges.

maybe because dads should be the ones going to work for the family. he should be the one doing the earning. but i am not against stay home dads. because dads might even raise kids better than moms. moms shout a lot so their kids would listen. dads do it in a diplomatic way. and kids tend to listen and respect dads more than moms. and if dads raise the kids they could establish a much closer relationship

I think it's an income issue for most people. Most men make more money than women. Heck, if I was the breadwinner in my family my husband would be staying home with our 8 month old!

because it was once ment to be, that the men worked and women were the care-takers for theyre child(ren) so. Everybody believes that they both work or the women stays home and the man goes to work.. Or it just doesnt work. But I believe if the women have no problem working and men stay home... than do just that but if she has a problem tell her you'll work with her or she could stay home..

what two people choose to do is fine by me. The problem people are going to have with mr mom is the belief that the male should be the main provider, breadwinner, and bringing home the bacon to financially support the house hold etc,etc,etc... is not going to change!

Because a lot of so called "modern thinkers" still have some very old fashioned views and according to them men work to provide for the family.

People still think of that as a mother's roll and many women embrace that roll (like me) but I agree that it could just as well be done by a man. People are just closed minded and stupid.
