my brother is 15 and is real bad boy. he gets things taken away from him for punishment but my mom wants to start spanking him again. i am younger and they still spank me, but not with a wooden spoon. how old is too old???

I know of grown men who still get a what for from their mother!
but the respect from kids have changed and also kids are more savvy than they used to be. Just watch out that he doesn't have her up for child abuse!

Parents can spank until the psychological hold they have over their children begins to deteriorate. As soon as the kid figures out he is about even, or even bigger than the spanker its time to consider a new approach at discipline. I’ve seen large 6 ft men and teenagers still getting physical punishment from small 5’2 mothers. If a parent is smart enough, the hold will stay. The alternative is for the spankee to learn to respect his parents and behave because it is the right thing to do; we all know how likely that is to happen.

I guess the spankings are over! That's a good thing, I hated getting them. I was only spanked twice after I turned 13, at home any way.

As long you live under your parents roof or are under there support you are young enough to have your butt tanned. At 15 I'd say your brother is do for a long spanking from your Dad or another older male. For most erring young men nothing works like the application of COWHIDE to BOYHIDE

it could be that if your parents do it he is going to feel more pressure and he'll do more bad things
what your brother needs are good friends more attention and someone who understand him but u should start to say something like "why u do it "or" don't do that" or" u area bad person"
because when u say it he'll be programed for doing bad things
understand him but not by question so close and exactly
for example tomorrow you'll say how was school or help him with a homework withough doing all

I would say when they are married and have kids. That's the time we should stop spanking them - Or when they reached 45

i think that 14 is when spanking should stop because by that age theya re old enough to get away and they can hurt the parents back.

I believe spanking at any age is wrong. It's just the easy way our, physically assaulting your children into obedience even sound dispicable. The right way is to use your mind and think up good positive and negative reinforcements that are at appropriate levels without using violence, and yes it really does work. And we wonder why our kids are so violent, it's a cultural tradition so to spanker's who got spanked it seems normal and good but it's just not, not all cultural traditions are good.
