Okay...God IS all powerful, and he CAN destroy Satan any time that he pleases. But why would he? Going to heaven when you die is such a wonderful gift. And you should accept that gift. But why would you accept that gift if you didnt think that you needed to?
If God destroyed Satan (whom he created before the world even began) then there would be no more evil in the world. And without evil, you cannot see how good God is and how people who have accepted God lead better lives. Your free will would be worth nothing. For what is will if there is no difference in the choices?
God created Satan in the first place. Satan started thinking that he was better than God. (Which was most certainly NOT true!) God sent him out of heaven into the earth. Satan, then in the form of a serpent, convinced Eve that she could be equal with God if she ate the fruit of the tree. This certain tree God had told Adam and Eve not to eat from. This was the first temptation. Eve ate of the fruit and gave some to Adam. This is why there is sin in the world today. Its all in the book of Genisis.
If God destroyed Satan, all evil would go with him. Without evil, there cannot be good. It is a very long chain reaction. God's perfect plan of salvation requires that there be some source of evil in the world to tempt us. If you wish more information, read the Bible. It is the best source for all of your questions to be answered.

This is an EASY question, thank God.
Because Satan WORDED his question concerning God carefully. That is, he didn't say, "why am I not God," instead, he QUESTIONED GOD'S RIGHT TO RULE.
God had to consider the implications of the question seriously:
#1. Kill Satan and have all the Angels think, "hmm, maybe Satan had something there?" After all, if over 1/3rd of the angels had ALREADY fallen with Satan and would have been asking all kinds of questions IN HEAVEN, the seat of God's Throne. So, instead, God in his wisdom decided to allow him to live.
#2. Until mankind has lived under all governments (and I don't know many we've left out) since we've done "Matriarchy, Patriarchy, Theocrachy, Dukedoms, Principalities, Kingdom's, Empires, Communism, Facism, on and on." Also, Christ said that Satan was the ruler of this world and since he offered the world to Satan as a temptation and Jesus never rebuked him for offering something "that wasn't his" it most likely is Satan's. Christ PROMISED that HIS KINGDOM WOULD come and destroy Satan's kingdom and Peace would return to the land. Also, the Lion and the Lamb would lie down, and other scriptural references that support this. So we see, that God is letting Satan and Man, AND THE ANGELS get the proof they need that no one BUT God thru Christ can JUSTLY rule Mankind.

Nothing bad would happen? OK so satan is dead and the 1/3 of all the angels that took that little trip southward. Now we have no choices. It is God or nothing. Goodbye Free Will, God's greatest gifts. How can there be joy without pain? How can there be good times without the bad. How can the faithful really show faith if they know for a fact that God lives and that they are not in jeapordy of going to hell if they do not act like good Christians. Since you mention Satan I am going the way of Christians they are after all the only ones that talk about Satan. There are all kinds of religions that might be somewhat accurate. We will never know. If you choose not to beleive that is your choice. Guess what, you have free will too. Kill Satan and destroy Hell and we lose that free will in the balance. God loves us so much he will let us live our lives denying his existence and that he is active in the world. And if we choose to live evil lives, he would not allow us into Heaven in any event. In a way God needs Satan for the souls of the Evil must go somewhere. Satan wants them, lead the revolt and now rules in Hell, as he wished. The evil go and join him there. And even if God did destroy Satan and Hell, do you really think that would destroy all evil in the world? I am not that sure. Most evils we know of are the acts of men

Unfortunately, regardless of whether or not Satan exists, humans still have free will. Having free will means they can choose to turn against or away from God. The other issue here is that Satan has free will, and is Satan because he chooses to be so.
Now, as for why we all have free will, it goes back to choices made in Eden. The "original sin"- eating the apple, was the first act of free will in turning away from God. Why did God give humans free will to begin with? That's a question nobody has an answer to. Certain other creations, such as some angels, don't have free will. They do what God says because they literally cannot do otherwise. However, so would argue our *choice* to follow God is more meaningful because we don't have to. We aren't God's slaves, we can choose to be servants, or not. And it's that choice that gives our actions meaning, and that also holds us accountable.
So it isn't an issue about whether or not God *could* do something, but rather the bigger issue of concious, choice, and learning to follow, which is made more important because it is freely chosen.

God uses bad things for good, even satan. God could have destroyed him at any time. He is using him to develop our use of free will. Once we have learned the difference between good and evil and learned to choose good over evil, there will no longer be any need for satan or any of the evil in the world today. Jesus will reign over a world of love and peace. Imagine what it would be like to no longer have criminals, violent crime, rape and etc. and etc. After satan is destroyed nothing bad will happen again. It is very sad that it is taking us so long to see the truth and make the choice. "Jesus came that we might have life." "Satan came to kill, steal and destroy."

Wow what a stupid question! Plus most of the answers are even more stupid than the question... First of all Satan is in hell how much more dead can you get? Plus he is not a human, he is a fallen angel and he was made to be perfect but he thought he was better than God and tried to take his place, so God banished him to hell! He will arise as a human one day though some call him the Anti-Christ. All people who believe in God will go to heaven and the rest will remain on earth in a living hell... But then God will destroy the devil... And there was something weird about every one being killed... guess it was because they all worship him at that point and are put in hell with him... P.S. It's not to late change your mind about not believing... just saying cause I care about you that's all...

That is a good question. God is even more powerful than to have to kill Satan. God has given his intelligent creatures free will. We and the angels can choose to do good or evil. He doesn't destroy those who choose evil, but He has it worked out so that even evil can be used and worked for ultimate good. He did this by sending Jesus to us to show us how to overcome evil with good, instead of evil with evil.
The definition of evil is actually 'the absence of a good that should exist', and evildoers are those who deprive or destroy goods. So evil is kind of like a giant black hole in space,, a vacuum that sucks things up.
to destroy as a punishment for destruction is fighting evil with evil. it only compounds the evil. "if we all lived by 'an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, we would all be blind and toothless'.
So Jesus took the punishment in dieing on the Cross and then He rose again, opening up heaven for us. Heaven is the ultimate good where Satan and the evil ones cannot go, and where those who persevere in merciful Love here will be in eternal bliss in the hereafter.

Satan is not the cause of all evil. We all have done some bad things in our past as best as I can tell. Even the saints and the prophets did not live perfect lives.
God loves Satan, and his forgiveness is great. Plus, Satan has a family and people that love him.
God does not send ANYBODY into oblivion, as every life is sacred and wanted. As God can not be destroyed, neither does he destroy others.

God doesn't bother with Satan. Only people mess with Satan. Some people simply choose to do Satan's will instead of God's.
If God forced us to do His will...we would be nothing but slavish biological beings...no different than a carrot.
God made man because He loves us and gave us the free will and intellect to do what is right. That is love. Slavery (force) is something used by Satan.

Why would God destroy his right hand man.
In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
Love and blessings
