Try this easy open-face sandwich

Toast a piece of bread, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on it

add a big thick slice of home grown tomato on it, sprinkled with salt and pepper

add slices of cooked bacon on top of the tomato

cover with slices of velveeta cheese so it covers the whole sandwich (You need to use Velveeta, it melts better than regular cheese - I’ve tried regular cheese and it is not nearly as good for this sandwich)

broil in the oven until cheese melts (not too long you will need to watch it carefully so it doesn't catch on fire)

Bon apetit!

You'll probably like this then:

Grilled Philly Cheesesteak
by: Bobby Flay

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk
1 1/2 to 2 cups grated sharp yellow Cheddar
2 teaspoons dry mustard
Salt and freshly ground pepper
2 filet mignons, 12 to 16 ounces each
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 soft Italian rolls, split and grilled
Toppings:
Grilled yellow and red onions, coarsely chopped
Grilled mushrooms, sliced
Grilled green peppers, sliced
Grilled Cubano peppers, sliced

Preheat grill to high. Melt butter in a medium saucepan on top of the grates of the grill. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Add the milk and cook until thickened. Whisk in the cheese and cook until melted. Add dry mustard and season with salt and pepper. Keep warm.
Brush filets with oil on both sides and season with salt and pepper. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes on each side for rare, which is desired for this sandwich. Let rest for 5 minutes and then slice into 1/8-inch thick slices.

Slice 7/8 of the way through the rolls and grill cut side down till slightly browned. Fill each roll with several slices of the beef, cheese sauce, and any or all of the toppings. Return sandwiches to the grill, close top, and grill very briefly just to heat through.
I like to put cheez whiz or provolone melted on top.

I made up a great sandwich a few years ago and I even use it while entertaining friends.......

onion rolls
grilled chicken breasts
spread with pesto sauce
red onion
provolone cheese
cucumber slices

Simple, but incredible.....all of the tastes go together great! Also, if you like TGI Fridays, they have a new sandwich on their menu that starts with a ciabatta bread, slices of beef brisket, provolone and horseradish sauce and then you dip it in their french onion soup, kind of like a french dip sandwich......the best I've ever had. Hope you try both of these......

Hardee's used to have a sirloin steak melt that had peppers, onions and a great sauce. All on a fantastic bun. I wish I could still get that sandwich. Since I can't, I like the pizza sub from Penn Station.

My favorite comes from a local restaurant. It's called a turkey stack. A buttery croissant is stacked with hot turkey, swiss cheese, bacon. It also comes with lettuce, tomato, and mayo, but I skip that. It's side are yummy homemade potato chips with ranch dressing.
