Theories on the meaning of the term 666 found in Revelations from the Bible?

The last good theory I heard, was that it could have been that John would have been able to describe a computer or Personal Identification Number (PEIN). 6 6 6 would simply be an 18 number computer code grouped into 3's.

What other theories do you have? I can't believe in the literal translation because anyone coming out with that would just be too obvious.

The Mark of the beast, ar mark that everyone will have. No one will be able to buy or sell with out the mark. Would leave one to believe that there would be only one world currency, accepted everywhere.
Everyone will have to have this mark, without it no one can buy or sell. A number that can't be used more than once that will be able to give a number to each person without being repeated. # sets of numbers each 6 digets long. 666. Verichip, MonoDex, Angel Chip, all makers of such a chip.

It can hold all your information, health, money, GPS, implanted just under the shik on the right hand or the forehead. It can be read by a scanner. Think that's crazy???? Think about this. Go put gas in your car and pay at the pump. The difference is you are using a little card instead of waving your hand by a scanner. No difference.

How could John 2000 years ago understand todays world?? How would he describe it? Would it not scare the living hell out of someone from his day? Hmmmm, just something to think about.

In a spiritual sense, I believe that numbers have different spiritual meanings. 6 is the number of man (which falls short of 7, which is God's holy number). 666 means every truth of the Word falsified by men; in the latter days the church becomes so corrupt that there's not one truth left that hasn't been corrupted. In the literal sense of the Bible, and in the more traditional interpretation, 666 is the name of the Antichrist; in Greek back then, letters were also numbers, so the guy who's the Antichrist would have a name that would be 666, if the letters were expressed as numbers.

I answered a question a couple of days ago about the number '666'. Here it is:

‘666’ does not stand for Satan. This is a Hollywood interpretation of the Bible. The number is revealed in the context of the second beast in the 13th chapter of John's Apocalypse. The dragon of chapter 12 represents Satan. The first beast in chapter 13 represents the Roman emperor Nero and the second beast represents the emperor Domitian.

The number stands for the person Caesar Nero, who name in Hebrew adds up to 666. Some Latin manuscripts read 616, which is the sum of the Latin letters for Nero's name.

Nero was most ruthless Roman emperor who persecuted the Church. Domitian, the second beast, also severely persecuted the Church and was seen as a prophet of the divine Nero. Some even thought that he was the resurrected Nero, thinking that his "mortal wound had been healed" (Rev. 13:12).

Also, in Hebrew the number seven represents perfection. That is why Jesus is described as "a lamb who seemed to have been slain. He had seven horns and seven eyes" (Rev. 5:6). The seven horns stand for his almighty power and the seven eyes represent the fullness of knowledge. Conversely, the number six in Hebrew signifies imperfection. The triple six designates Nero as the personification of imperfection; the height of imperfection; the opposite of perfection. The Hebrew language does not have words to denote degrees of value - like "good", "better", "best". That is why the angels sing "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty (Rev. 4:8), instead of just saying "holiest". So, just as God is holy, holy, holy; Nero is imperfect, imperfect, imperfect.

Repeating a thing 3 times is a superlative, therefore the number of God should be trhee times seven:777.
regarding the rest of the numbers the 6 is the most imperfect one. Why? because it only failed by one to become a 7. So to make the superlative of this imperfection, we would say it three times: 666.

I believe this number, as the bible states, will be the "mark of the beast", the anti-christ, when he comes to power. I think it's very likely that this number somehow will be incorporated into a microchip that will be placed in a person's forehead or hand, also as the bible states, without which they will not be able to buy or sell.

If a person takes this mark, they cannot be saved.

I don't think that people know for sure. It could me now...Marking of the Beast computer chips, with numbers on them, implanted inside you. Or that might mean part of the one world government

Or it might mean if you are left behind, you can state you are ani-Christ and get the 666 tattooed on your body, and if you are with Christ then you become a Mortor.
