well, i use a combination of norton antivirus/system works/personal firewall/antispam (100$ total if u get the 3box package, but it works really good, ad-aware (free, unless u registerto get the extra options(search for it at www.download.com ), Spy Sweeper (50$, but it works great for spyware/adware, and Spybot S&D free, unless u decide to donate to the cause(search on www.download.com
P.S. if that dont work, if ur running xp, hit start, all progs, accesories, system tools, system restore bsystem restore should get rid of it. its saved me a couple of times now, including the time i was messing with the font sizes in the display properties
P.S. P.S. please remember tht all antivirus/spam etc are made to eliminate a certain type, thts why some progs are better than others for things. spybot is a general one, so it has to speed its searched up so tht it can search for it all. thts why its best to update everything, then run it all before u go to bed, then let it run while you sleep. o and, stay off the bad sites, they usually are chocked full of viruses (not saying you have been n one, just stating a helpful tip)

Try this free program. It's absolutely the best cos it combines different tools.Take the 2.4 version.2.5 is a test version.
The site is in Dutch but the product has an English language mode.Good luck.
All the above tools are included in this one!!!!

Spybot Search & Destroy is good. Make sure you get it off of download.com, it's run by CNet, a reputable company. There are copycats that just put more spyware on your computer. Ad-Aware is also very good. It gets spyware too along with tracking cookies.

Try this! Download for free : Ad-Aware, SpyBot
Search & Destroy, and Windows Defender Beta 2. Combine with Windows Firewall and McAfee
Firewall and run McAfee VirusScan nightly. If that doesn't do it, get a shot-gun and shoot your computer!

Spyware doctor. kicks *** over spybot.
Spybot showed no problems, yet i had tons of popups and a slow as hell computer.
Spyware doctor found over 1400 issues & fixed them all.
