i remember when i had braces around 12 or 13 that the feeling was akin to having a toothache all around your mouth... its generally not something that was scary or extremely painful, it was just dull and constant... for a few days at least, then it goes away. beauty is pain isnt it? haha i wouldnt sweat it too much.

Unfortunately, yes, it hurts to wear braces. It doesn't hurt at all when the orthodontist is working on them, but your teeth will begin to get sore a few hours later. You won't want to eat anything chewy. It hurts less each time you go in for another adjustment.

Try getting the bands in the cool colors. You can change your braces to match the season, like orange and black for Halloween.

I had braces and a palette expander, I feel your pain! Try Motrin, it is good for aches particularly in the mouth. Or Aleve, this lasts for 24 hours and you only need to take 1-2 pills. Excedrin works well also but has caffeine so don't take before bed. Read instructions of course.

I wont lie it does hurt and after having them tightened you will probablly need to eat soft foods. I would highly recomend taking an Ibporfin before your appointment and take another dose after your appt. Adjustments hurt just as bad as the tightening. Braces are the whole metal contraption they have in you mouth.

Your teeth will hurt for a few days, so eat soft foods. Then it will go away, until the next tightening session.

There is no other way to straighten teeth, do not miss your appointments.

Hi Lily. The tightening doesn't really hurt - it just feels like pressure on the teeth. The next day though, your teeth/mouth will be sore. It's like having a dull but constant headache in your mouth! It's not really that bad - you'll be fine. Good luck!

tightening doesnt hurt. its really fast. sometimes after ttightening your teeth might get sore but its normal. i have crossbite and overbite also. i was really scared when i was going to go in for tightening the first time.,

braces have. brackets. o-rings. seperators/metal bands. rubber bads/elastics. expanders. headgear. and more. some of the stuff is optional and not everyone has them.

It does not hurt when the dentist works on them but it is very painful pressure after for the next day or so. the thing on the tooth I have no clue the color on the thing on the tooth is o-rings or elastics people call them different things, and the thing the o-rings or elastics keep in place is the wire. I just want to know what a wilson is becasue I have to have one put on. Hope this helps any.

P.S. I am 12.

You will feel uneasy or unsatisfied or unpleasant temporary in a short period of time.It is caused you are not accustomed to that situation. But after some days you will feel easu and satisfiedDo not scared, because it will not so hurt. You can ask your dentist how to reduce your hurt if you get a metal band on your teeth. You will be looked nicer after its process has been finished.

They will be tight for a day or two and you may need to take some non-asprin medication. You may find it hard to bite into something for a couple of days. Eat soft foods. You will survive through this. You have the strength you will get through this.
