The absolute WORST thing you can do to try to solve the depression problem is to spend one more second focused on yourself, your thoughts, etc. Keeping a journal and going to counseling or other suggestions along those lines will only keep you fixated on the poor perception that is causing your depression.

The BEST thing you can do for yourself is to help someone else with their problems. Help your neighbor move, take your dog to a retirement home to let the residents pet him, complement your sister on her new dress, adopt a little brother/little sister, take a load of groceries to your local free food pantry, put a penny in the old man's cup, pick up that wadded paper towel that didn't land in the trash can in the public restroom, ANYTHING to get your mind off yourself and realign your perception with what your place is in this world; a contributing and valuable member of society.

Self focus=self pity=the seed of all depression

Since I have been on answers your question or a version of it has cropped up time and time again. So many of us suffer from mental health problems in some shape or form, and 1 in 4 of us suffer from depression. So you are not alone, try not to feel isolated but go and seek some expert advice and help. And hopefully you will soon feel a great deal better but let your family help and support you. Cognitive therapy and medication can help all three conditions, but the cure takes time believe me.

Try deep breathing for the panic attacks and anxiety, go for a walk if you are able and get out of the house.

Don't know what you would consider best, but I would suggest getting checked out for hyperinsulinemia (high insulin production). As insulin is an important part in the production of all bodily chemicals, an overproduction of insulin may help some other chemicals overproduce, causing underproduction of others.

Some of the books I have read about this, indicate that some of the chemicals so underproduced may be the ones that prevent depression.

You may want to search for hyperinsulinemia on the www.mayoclinic.com website. Basic information on blood sugar imbalances and the problems that result can be found on www.hufa.org.

Anti depressants work for quite a lot of people - worked for me but only discovered them when I was older. If you're young you may find that panic attacks may fade but look into anti depressants. I took Prozak. Same one doesn't suit everyone you may have to try others but takes a while to work - not immediate. Good luck.

I too suffer. Dont get into pills they just hide the problem. Deal with one problems 1 at a time. You will feel you have achieved something and be proud of it. You will get on a high and that will make you so elated that you will want to try the next. With support from others you will get better.

In my own experience.. I go to a psychiatrist and therapist, do deep breathing for anxiety, take anti-depressants, get plenty of sleep due to trazadone (a med) and exercise. Good luck!
