The "original sin" is thinking one is separate from God... God is everywhere... thinking one is separate from God is like a fish in the sea thinking it is separate from the water... soooo what's with people thinking that everything that is bad or anything that makes us feel good is a "sin"?

Sin is a deliberate thought, word, deed, or omission contrary to the eternal law of God.

Just kind of want to remind you that since sin is against God, people don't define what sin is, but God does. Serving people, loving people, feels wonderful, and that most certainly is not sin.

Keep that principal i told you earlier in mind- that God defines what is sinful and what is not. There are a lot of things out there that is enjoyable but is sinful because it is destructive to people. For example drinking is not a sin- but drunkenness is (think of all the damage that has been done by drunk people to others and themselves). Ultimately the thing that God loves most (that He gave His Son Jesus for) is people.

People will argue that God is a "cosmic-killjoy" or that God is against fun-- not true. There were those in Jesus' time in the book of Colossians who added requirements and made all these prohibitions which made them seem holy but didn't help them in their inner attitude towards God and the things of God. It's like what's the big deal if you fast 2 times a week but don't help a hungry man you meet on the street?

Hope that helps...

Agreed. As long as we perceive God as something "out there" and believe that he is pissed at us, then we must think of all of the possible reasons, and all of the ways that we are morally deficient. Then we must feel guilty because it must be our fault. Then we must seek God's favor, either by throwing someone in a volcano, killing an infidel, or ringing someone's doorbell and bonking them over the head with our Bible.

Alas, the truth is to be found by looking inward, and coming to understand that we are never seperate from God.

Joke: What is Puritanism?

Answer: The nagging feeling that somewhere, somehow, someone is having a good time.

Praising God makes me feel good. That isn't a sin.

I try really hard to see homosexuality as sinful sometimes... but I just can't see it that way at all. Somebody is wrong and it's not me...I think I know more about it than they do after all.
