Some of the larger centipedes can inflict a painful bite, causing swelling and redness. Symptoms rarely persist for more than 48 hours. Millipedes do not bite but may secrete a toxin that is irritating, particularly when accidentally rubbed into the eye.

It won't kill you but its a pants pisser.
First I take a Benidril [I've been bitten 4 times by a 6- 7 incher about as big around as my little finger.
Also make a paste of food msg [mono sodium glutinate] and put on the bite area.
I now just pay a pesticide company to come by once every 3 months and have not had a problem since and they spray only outside for $100. a month.
I live on Maui Hawaii.
If you are growing Bananas look out as the area around the base of the trees/bush is home for them.

Yes, centipedes are poisonous (venomous). In some instances people have been killed (usually immune deficient persons).

They are poisonous, but they do not normally kill peolpe. Even giant african centipedes do not kill people who are not allergic and have healthy immune systems.
