It's manners, but it works out when they miraculously answer your question.

Did you know that you can make comments to a best answer? It's a the bottom in blue!!! :) Put your thanks there!

Yes, I usually do. Not always though. If the asker choses me then I will reply. If its the voters sometimes I do and sometimes not. I've also put in comments when an answer is chosen that feels very wrong to me. Personally, I don't like the voting system. I really think the asker should chose the answer that fits their situation best.

I didn't know you could until now, and at first thought that a good idea and a nice thing to do, but after looking through my best answers, it seems to me that they're self-evident as they are, and same with all best answers. You already had your say in the answer, it was picked as best because it said what was needed, why say more? I would more often want to leave a comment on a best answer that I don't agree with or on a question that's closed and I can't answer. It's nice if you want to tell the asker thanks, but I don't think it's necessary. We're all here for a reason.

If the person seems truly thankful and writes a sentence or two as to why they picked my answer as best, I always try to reply. Unfortuntately, many people still haven't verified their email addresses, so sometimes I can't. If someone picks my answer as best and in the comments box types only a period or thanks or something else simple, then no, I don't try to reply.

If it were convieniently enabled! The thanks to the best answer hasn't been rendered because I don't have the ability to find the 'proceedure'. This day of passwords & internet security & logins & hidden information make it look like I'm a stauker jest trying to contact someone! Surely thanks! I got my 1st 10 pointewr two days ago & don't know HOW to even get back to the question:O

Umm, how exactly would you reply? You can't post anything to the question since it is closed. If the questioner isn't open to email, how would this work?

I guess if the questioner asked another question you could say something. But wouldn't that be completely irrelevant to the current question?

So I guess my answer would be "no," since I can't envision how this would politely be done.

No, to be honest I never really thought about replying. However I've replied to a couple of emails following up one of my answers.

I agree with you.any time I've been chosen I've always said, thank you with a short follow up note. I feel it's important to let the person know their action touched you!
