They are too loud together and I only want to keep the Jenday. I feel bad because they spend their day's preening each other, and squawking. The have mated for life. What should I do?????? too much squawk for me

Are you really attached to the jenday but not the nanday? So many nandays get dumped and passed around because they are loud, but they really are sweet birds. You might want to give them up together- maybe you could find someone willing to take them both... however, if you do split them up, chances are you will see some major depression and behavior issues, for a while at least. Be sure that the jenday still has good pet qualities- jremoving the nanday will not automatically make the jenday a better pet. Also, be prepared for a lot of calling and vocalization for a while anyway from the lonely jenday. Jendays alone are still pretty loud...

what do you need to separate them for, is one of them sick? How long have they been together? They can suffer from anxiety as a result of this. But if you must, you can't give in to the screaming, otherwise you'll have a bird that is a continuous screamer. You can still let them out to play together if you do end up with a successful separation. You may also find that if you don't want babies you can make it so they don't hatch.

Do check out this thread as well on pairing Nandays and Jendays(second one) I have linked you to the first on, just click next beneath the entry to read the next one and so on.

Hope this is helpful to you and your boyds.

if they we're hand fed, hand tamed babies at one point they should be fine as long as you now keep them apart. If you notice any eating habits change or plucking going on, it is not a good thing.
