And then find out we were wrong about global warming, than to do nothing and find out we were WRONG about global warming? Yes, taking action to prevent and reverse global warming will be expensive, but the risk of being wrong about the warming effects is worth taking, isn't it? If warming is not happening, and we take action, then the world will still be a healthier, better place, wouldn't it?

regardless of whether global warming is real (I think it is by the way on some scale) it makes sense to implement the policies to prevent global warming because they help out the general air quality (allergies and asthma cases are on the rise) and atmospheric health in general (anyone else miss the ozone layer and not burning in five minutes on a nice sunny day)

Global warming might be a real problem. But I have enough problems of my own that are very real to me to worry about. I will work on my problems and you can work on global warming. Good luck.

I read the other answers and see that some have criticized my answer and have been good enough to invent the problems I have, like my 60 grand Suv and worrying about Britney spears.
Let me tell you what my problems really are.
I just spent 4 years on the street and in homeless shelters. I got a just above minimum wage job and moved into a low rent housing development where I squander money on rent and food for my family. Yes I worry about paying next months rent and having food for my family. I am sorry that I am not wealthy enough to join your noble global thinkers club. I don't even own a car to contribute to the global warming that might effect the earth in 100 years.

For me survival is not about something that might happen in 100 years, it is about food shelter and clothing now.

Global Warming, technically, is REAL. But is it caused by humans? I doubt it. If humans had the sensitive, high tech, accurate weather and climate recording tools we have today 10,000 years ago we'd have some actual reliable data to make a decision. As it stands now, we're basing some theories on data less than 200 years old from old, inaccurate tools, thermometers, record keeping methods, etc. The Earth goes through cycles and we don't really know for sure if this is part of a small scale cycle vs. a cycle that takes 1000's of years to complete.

These strategies sound pleasant, however would not paintings. one million.) Mass-developing crops - it is known as farming, and we do not need adequate land to be had to make adequate. If we might make a further Amazon rainforest, we could have got to transparent away a hell of plenty of land, which could have an end result because the land is used for anything already! two.) If we cut back the populace development, we can break the international financial system and plunge each nation into break - say our moms and dads - once they retire, our new release will have got to pay the pensions in their new release. If one new release has 10 adults to one million of the following new release, that one man will have got to pay for 10 grownup pensions. three.) Your argument does not turn out international warming - simply since CO2 prevents infrared radiation leaving the surroundings, it doesn't suggest that we're spewing out adequate CO2 to honestly have a obvious affect. And it doesn't suggest that that's what's inflicting the earth to warmness up - it might be thoroughly ordinary! There were international warmings and coolings within the final 2000 years besides, with out a massive difference in CO2 phases, that plenty of proof elements that means!

You're absolutely right! Doing something is always better than doing nothing! But, just mickdotcom, who has more important things in his life to worry about (such as $3.00-a-gallon fuel for his $60,000 SUV; maxxed-out credit cards; Britney Spears' love life; "low prices - everyday" at WalMart for junk we don't need; Jacko's pedophilia; and the latest rankings of our favorite NASCAR driver?), Americans go on squandering energy as if there's an endless supply of Earth's precious resources.

So, mickdotcom, I have a proposition for you: why don't you send me ALL your money and I promise to squander it as quickly and as needlessly as I possibly can until it's all gone.
Since that' exactly what you're doing with this planet's natural resources, you should be receptive to such a proposal, right?

Someday, mickdotcom, you might actually grow up and become an adult. And maybe you'll someday have a beautiful grand-daughter whom you'll bounce on your lap, and consider the absolute 'apple of your eye'. And someday that adorable little grand-daughter might grow up and have children of her own; and those children might have children. And - all because YOU, mickdotcom, plundered all of Earth's resources while you were young and foolish, your descendants will have to wear gas masks to breathe clean air, and won't have enough fresh drinking water.

If we continue to allow our vehicle emissions to pollute the air today, imagine how badly polluted our air will be when your great-great-grandchildren are adults!

To profess that global warming is unimportant is to be nothing more than a wasteful, irresponsible dolt, mickdotcom. Someday (sooner rather than later) we will come to realize that there's a reason for the delicate ecological balance between man, plants and animals. The evolutionary process (or the 'big bang', or God, or an intelligent designer, or Nature) intended for us to have dominion over the Earth - NOT to squander it like a bunch of reckless morons.

Better for us to protect and preserve the fragile environment now and find out later it wasn't necessary other than to completely destroy the planet and its resources. Let's assume there's plentiful bounty; that still doesn't give us the right to waste it! -RKO-

The primary mitigation strategies for global warming involve reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The best way to do that is to improve the efficiency of the energy systems that produce them - chiefly coal power plants and automobiles. While improving efficiency certainly has a significant up front cost, it usually pays off well economically as well as environmentally.
With fuel costs going up and competition from developing nations increasing, we in America would do well to improve our efficiencies anyway, lest in a few years we find ourselves lagging behind the rest of the world and paying dearly for it.

We have been taking action to control, prevent & reverse it
for many years..Example the change in Air Cond. refrigerants.
We are simply not going to get stupid and shut down our
civilization because a few liberal tree huggers run around
screaming that the sky is falling...
