Well, you might as well get two 12" subs if you want to do it right. With the two subs, box, and lets say a 300-watt amp, you shouldn't spend more than $500 (new) or $300 (used). Ebay has plenty of stores that sell stuff like this at great prices. Just beware the shipping costs!

If you are going to go with a Kenwood amp make sure its the 25th anniverssary. I had the "1700watt" sub amp. It would shut down after about 30minutes in 2ohm load and when put into 1ohm(which it states it can do) it would shut down instantly. The JL subs are really good though. I wouldn't put more than 900 watts too it and if you have it in a trunk then go with a sealed enclosure but if its a hatch bandpass will increase the SPL. I wouldn't pay more than 500-700 for a really good set up with one 12''

It depends on your cash flow. The 12 inch W7 and an amp can run you 700 dollars, but you only need one & its the loudest one out right now. With the JL's you don't need a pair, you can do one or 3 or 5 and they sound good.

My JL 12w7 ran me about 400 shipped from ebay.
I WOULD NOT get a kenwood amp. Ive had all kinds of problems (not personally, but with friends and such) with kenwood amps becoming overheated and shutting down. they cant push the ratings they say they can.

First off ditch the kenwood amp, secondly what jl sub are you talkin about, it could go from around 150 to 800 depending on what model you get.
