not really unless you know this person is trully who they say. im not saying its that bad you just have 2 b careful its not a predetor. my brother met his girlfriend only he is now 21 and she is actually at our house now. just be EXTRA careful and make sure you care for them. i date online but i wont give them a last name or phone number untill you are positive you know and care for this person...good luck and take care!

It's safer than actual physical dating. You can't get STD's over the internet and you don't need to worry about kids cause there's no physical actions. Just watch out for the perverts and have fun! Oh.. and if you meet the person you talk to in person... Make sure it's a public place.

The one caveat is the you have to be CAREFUL!
Lot of perverts out in cyberspace, and some of them can sound like the coolest person in the world.
And NEVER arrange to meet somebody without it being in a very public place. The food court of a shopping mall is best, I think...and you can get a good friend to just "happen" to be sitting a few tables away...in case you need help.
Sorry to point out potential negatives, but please be careful out there.

it's not a bad thing as long as they are careful. i met my bf of 1 1/2 years on the internet. we talked by e-mail for a week. talked on the phone for two weeks and then finally met in a public place.
