Anyone know of software to help with putting music behind my lyrics.

If you are not a musician, you'll still need to resort to Fruity Loops. You have to work with analog instrument loops because synthesized acoustic instruments like the guitar and mandolin sound terrible.

You'll want to buy good quality loops performed by real musicians, and not download free stuff off the Internet, if you even want a hope of it sounding good. Like these:

I have to say - I've never heard a good looped acoustical track. There's no getting around the fact that you've mostly got to learn these instruments and record them naturally, if you want them to sound good. Or find a friend/collaborator who does play them.
