I'll probably be more crazy and want to drink, smoke, and whatever else there is to do. Anyone have any personal experiences with this and can share with me what ends up happening? I really can imagine myself in the future drinking, but not smoking, cuz a friend of mine has a father with lung cancer and it's a little scary. Also, is smoking really that addictive? Cuz it doesn't seem like much..

So, I was feeling the exact same way when I was really young like you. I'm still young at 21, and now that I look back on the things that I did when I was 17 or 18, I laugh, but am more shocked at the crazy things I did.

I drank every weekend at parties and friends houses and often did embarrassing things. I was videotaped making out with a bunch of different girls *NOT girls gone wild, haha* and this tape was passed around my high school. I became promiscuous, and that's NEVER a good thing! It's when you drink that you often become someone you aren't, and you do things you really regret.

I'm not telling you not to drink, because it will most likely happen no matter what. All I'm saying is to watch yourself, don't drink to the point you become someone you don't know.

As for smoking, I've never smoked a cigarette in my life. All of my friends do, and they're now struggling very hard to quit. IT IS that addictive, don't do it.

Good luck sweety.

Smoking is the most dumbass thing you can do. Don't even consider it. You already know why and having an addiction that has to be fed every half hour should at least give you a buzz, it doesn't. Get really drunk once and while recovering the next day, make a list why you won't go that far again. Read it every week until you don't need to anymore.

There really isnt too much bad with drinking, wait until your 17 at least though or it can do serious liver damage to you. Your liver isnt fully developed until your 18 but as long as your not drinking every day when your 17 you should be fine.

One thing though is that you will find in high shcool drinking isnt a big deal drugs are. And Even if you say you arent going to now you are going to be pressured to and so many kids do it now a days. You should go rent or watch the movie 'Requeim for a Dream'. Its a really strong movie that can change your life. Good luck growin up.

Yes smoking is addictive, don't bother starting. Most people who smoke in their twenties think they will quit when they're 30, then they find they can't. As for drinking, if you're like me, you think it's really fun for two or three years, then hanging around in bars with drunks gets massively boring. There are WAY more fun things you can do when you're sober, and the conversations are better too.

The best advice I have is to drink in moderation and only socially and NEVER drink and drive. As far as smoking goes - watching someone suffocate as they die is not a fun way to spend an evening. If you start smoking you WILL get hooked and if you get hooked you eventually will see some sort of consequence whether it be deadly or just impare your abilities. Stay away from the cigarettes and if you do drink - be smart about it.

Why do you have such low aspirations for yourself? Why would you want to potentially hurt your body?

Why not get into a sport? If I was young, like you, I would be reading all I could about various athletes. Let's take Lance Armstrong. He was the athlete who came down with cancer, and ended up winning the Tour de France in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

Do a search on him in Google and read more! He beat the odds.

How? Hard work. Our bodies are made for exercising, eating right and having a positive outlook for us to enjoy living. Study race horses! The winners are in prime shape. Healthy!

What about the medical field? Who are some heros in this area and whom would you like to model yourself after? Try to find someone or something in this life that will inspire you to do your best. You only have one life to live, live it to the fullest and leave behind a honorable legacy!

If ya smoke you get addicted. how much you smoke depends on how addicted ya get. If ya smoke more than once a day then you head strait for lung cancer, and tar in your lungs. (if ya smoke at all you'll get it anyway.) If ya drink then your liver and kidneys will slowly start to shut down. you'll be at a greater risk of getting sick or liver disease. go with the only safe choice. fight the temptation to start either one. (a sip of beer at a party is okay, just don' t over do it.)

Drinking: All I have to say is "DON'T DO IT!!!"....if you end up having a kid, drinking will make her/his life miserable and abusive. My dad was a drunk/drugatic and when my mom finally couldn't take any more (I was 13) they divorced and he ended up homeless. I loved my father very much, but he died at the age of 36 from alcohol......thats what can happen if you drink.

Smoking: My aunt developed lung cancer at the age of 55 and died that same year. My grandpa was a smoker all his life and when he got into his 60s it really took a toll on him. He couldn't breathe, walk, or even wipe himself. He died a very painful death........thats what will happen if you smoke.

Lesson: Don't do stupid things to endanger yourself and others....smoking and drinking cures nothing! It just makes life worse.

Yes smoking is very addictive, if you haven't already started then why start now. Keep your lungs healthy you will need them when you get older (not that you don't need them now of course) Does waking up in the middle of the night coughing up a lung, or first thing you when you wake up is depend on a three in stick (cigarette) to get your started, or does coughing up thick black or brown wads of crab sound appealing to you if so start smoking if not then keep on the non smoking band wagon. You will be glad you did.
