All too well, although now it's largely open markets and hotels now. I think every west coast sailor and officer will ALWAYS remember Subic Bay

Ah, yes, the "Sailor's Disneyland". It, Olongapo, and Subic City had more night life than the entire United States. And Grande Island, so nice to experience. I have to admit, the base barber shop gave such close shaves it felt like baby's skin when they finished. I heard monkeys were a hazard at the golf course, kept stealing the balls.

Oh, yes.
Most of it is a high-end resort now. The old BOQ (Bachelor Officer Quarters) is now a US$65 a night hotel. They didn't even remove the old steel lockers from the rooms.
It also kind of blew me away that San Miguel beer was cheaper than soda.

Always wanted to go, never got there. One day I hope we get it back open. The folks in Japan wish we would move back there.
