I was born and bred a catholic christian, at the age of 8 I visited Holy Lourdes in France and I was blessed in the " holy waters" that are nearby where St Mary apeared before Bernadette. At the age of 12 I studied at a Catholic seminary to start on my journey on becoming a catholic priest. At age 13 I realised that religion and christianity were not for me and I decided on my own path of belief and behaviour to myself and others. I STILL do not believe in organised religion and christians and muslims and whoever who kill in the name of religion make me sick.

BUT in all the years i was a practising religious lad I never saw an image of Jesus that wasn't based on a white middle aged man. If he was born to Mary and GOD, then why wasn't he middle east looking? Why are all the modern day images of Jesus make him look like a blue eyed westerner when he MUST have looked like he was from the middle east? Surley ALL the modern images in all the western churches are completley wrong?

Amen! I think that religion in general should stop trying to profit from all of the average needy Joe. If the images of Jesus looked remotely like Bin Ladden who would buy them? It all comes down to money. The Catholic church for example is the riches organisation in the world, the only religion to own it's own country. It profited from the poor village people who had nothing. The richer the religion the more frightening they become money buys what is wanted. No one in their right mind would be afraid of Voodoo (not to take from someones beliefs) but unless it suddenly became a rich/powerful religion that threatened others, there would be few people who would ever give it a second thought. What frightens people is the wealth and power that the Christian/Catholic etc religions possess. These money making schemes hurt and discriminate against those who do not support them financially. If all non believers banded together and started an endless fund for themselves then many others would join.

Despite popular belief, there is no conspiracy to make Jesus "White". Rather, when the early statues were created by monks in the middle ages, they used the only color pigmentation's they had available. After these images became icons, it seemed blasphemous to change them, thus all new statues are created the same way.

But you are making a deadly mistake. The only difference between an iconic image of Jesus and a false idol is that idols are worship in the place of a God while an icon is used to remind people of the God that is worshiped. A good icon is any figure that reminds the worshiper of God, despite any political flaw. The current icons succeed in that regard.

the story of Jesus was based on the story of Horus and Osiris ,and this was a symbolic representation of the life cycle of the Sun .
its purpose was to transform Paganism to the Islamic and Christian religions

the religion was based on the humanized story ,of these cosmic bodies and their events,by the descendants (illuminati)of the Anunnaki ,who was know as the creator but who was not a God ,but no more than a learned refugee from Mars before it was knocked out of Orbit

the Illuminati used this religion to manipulate, the Adams race, which was created by the Anunnaki (through genetic engineering and cloning)to mine gold for them ,and to this day controls this race(most of us)descendants.

over the eons the symbolism was totaly lost .
the myth was strengthened by continues application of false information
(i.e Leonardi da Vinci ,was one of many, and the shroud of Turin is such an example, as was the da Vinci code, humanizing the legend)

so that by now Jesus has become a real person .
however no one ever could agree on what he should look like.

and over the centuries, artists have made up several accepted versions. of the greatest con in all of Human history

Todays allies of the Illuminati are the bilderberg group, the Round table ,U.N,the Club of Rome(Vatican).and these control the world through war and finance.
they always have done so
and their method has been by dividing Humanity in to religious, cultural ,and political oposing groups ,which are then set against one an other
the New World Order (continued from Hitler) is their baby,
Bush and Blair are their present marionettes.

as al USA presidents have been (34 of them are related to Charles the great and Charlemagne,)the leaders of this world have always been, more or less one clan, including the Roman and even Chinese Emperors ,the Pharoes, the Popes,as far back as the kings of Babylonia.

First, since he was the sacrifice to undo what Adam had done by bringing Sin into the world, genetically, he had all the same DNA as Adam, which means Red Man in ancient Hebrew. He would have been a massive man, having been a perfect human being, and having worked with Joseph as a carpenter for over 20 years. Everything was done manually, so he had to have been very strong. His appearance of humility came from how he upheld himself, not that he looked weak. He likely could have broke any man in half, if he had half a mind to do so.

I think you should try to forget about religion and try to find God... I mean really have a relationship with Him. God knows you are searching... He will not let you down. That's his promise. He knows your heart, and he will reveal himself to you. All else doesn't matter. I do think there's a lot of discrepancies in the Catholic practice too, but I respect them for their choice. I suggest the Bible alone. religious groups will tell you all that... I don't believe Jesus looked like the pictures of him they printed on such nice papers... I think they might represent Jesus, for the visual effect, but I never worship the picture. I mean, cameras were not in use back then... Try to get to the truth rather than waste time with what's wrong in every religion... it's a faster way.
I hope you find God.

I agree that the depictions of what Jesus looked like is not accurate. Jesus was of Jewish decent. He would of clearly had brown skin and other features that are not showing up in the modern pictures.I dont follow a religion, I read and follow the Bible.Man has always tried to have their hands in everything so to stay on the right track I follow the bible, not man!

Jesus would have looked middle eastern, also he is often depicted as quite a weak looking person, however Jesus was a carpenter, he had a physically demanding job, he had to chop down and transport trees! so he would have been physically strong too.

The main thing to remember is that the bible is very specific in many places that making images of anything in connection with worship is forbidden. Therefore god does not want people to make images of Jesus.

I agree with you that killing in the name of religion is sick, anybody who thinks that they have gods backing could not be more wrong.

I honestly liked going to church, but I found that many of my dad's "church's beliefs" were just as radical as this guy named Jack Chick. My mom was a catholic, and I honestly beliec Catholisicm is equal to Protestantism in worship of the Lord.

I am not christian, I was never baptised in either church, and I stopped going to bible school because I believed that I can love any woman that I want to love even if they're muslim, hindu, black or jewish or chinese. I also believe they're confusion that catholisicm is not christianity...but where did the protestants come from --- CATHOLICS.

AAAAAAAAAAARGH

But about Idolotary -- many people offered sacrifices to God, including one who sacrificed his son so that God would be better to him. Catholics worship the Virgin Mary and other Saints, but I believe its no different than praying to god who is "around us". People say god is in trees and in the grass that we walk on, but why do we pray to these things around us and its not idoltory? And kill things in the name of god for instance, god even said that people should not kill each other, why would god want people to kill people for a lesson -- even if those events didn't occur, why make these up?

Thats why I'm agnostic... I don't deny there being a god, but I do not know what it is or it is unkowable what or even if there is a god.

I see your point. You have to remember that most of the famous paintings of Jesus were done in Europe by Anglos, and they used that look as a model, albeit erroneously.

Don't be too hard on them. I don't need an image of Jesus to worship Him, and I'm sure most of Christianity will agree. Look at it as fine art and nothing more.

As far as organized religion goes, I know that Christians are far from perfect, but so are you. We need each other. If you can't join a fellowship, consider a small group of close brothers and sisters with whom you can study the scriptures and share your life.

Don't want 2 poo poo at ur wee rant (nice! feel any better now?)

people of any colour race or creed r attracted by those who look like them hence disabled deformed or ny1 who appears not to conform is shunned in some societies.

Idols were adopted as a comfort to the masses as not all could read n write only the wealthy and churchmen were educated

I agree with ur statement on Holy war as its an oxymoron as how can war b holy!!? Ny1 who kills "in the name of god" is sadly mistaken or brainwashed by nasty manipulative people who wish 2 achieve their own ends!

I would never decry another persons religion or poke holes in someones beliefs but I don't have to agree with them.

I don't believe any religion has supremacy over another as we are equal to god. Unfortunately anyone can setup a religion (might not even include god ie Scientology, sects etc.) also regards organised religion of any kind - you can have a ton of religion but only an ounce of faith! I wish it were the other way round and we'd all get on a heck of a lot better!!!
