Probably not! I reccommend that you do some reading on the subject especially by Dr. Daniel Amman and the co-relation between ADHD and drug abuse. I also reccomend that you do research that shows how misdiagnosed this is!

Yes, he should stay on his meds, why wouldn't he? I've heard of kids going off their meds during the summer, but many parents end up putting them right back on the meds because they are too hard to handle. By taking him off his meds he will be confused with how he is acting, and so will his friends.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can attest to the fact that the meds make all the difference in the world! Insist he take them. The world will be more normal for him, and his behavior will be under control. This from a former teacher who worked with MANY ADHD youngsters.

According to my sources (see below), puberty can eliminate ADHD effects and disorder.
It does not eliminate him from passing it on to other generations.
Ask your doctor, read the books below, and listen to your gut, spouses gut and your step-sons gut.

I was on meds at his age...my parents refused to continue them because they didn't want to believe their "angel" had a problem. I have lost 37 jobs due to behavioral problems since my first job 31 years ago. My life with ADHD has been hell.

my brother used to take meds for the same problem, as sooon as he started feeling balanced he would think that he should stop his meds. and as soon as he did, he would get worse. the doctor is the one that decides that .

some kids need it to make it threw the day but its up to you to make that decision dont let the doctors because they just want to you to keep coming back for the money! they tend to grow out of it!though good luck

They need to be taken regularly and at a regular time so you can gauge their effectiveness (in hindsight).

yes...some kids truly need medication to help them focus.....


Think of it this way: if he had diabetes, would you stop his insulin?
