quit worrying. THERE WILL BE NO DRAFT.. EVER. The military DOESN'T WANT ONE, they don't NEED ONE and they sure as hell don't want to be saddled with a bunch of whiny spoiled ingrates who would rather spend their time on selfish endeavors.

The only person who has proposed the draft was (I believe) Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY). He did it because he said the military is skewed towards lower class people and minorities and believed that a draft would require upper class people to participate. It was a non-starter and frankly a publicity stunt. I think he would have been appalled if it had passed.
As far as in general I don't believe there's a need or a desire for the draft and frankly I couldn't see it happening unless something monumental happened.

the US military is vastly understafffed. That's why soldiers are forced to do multiple tours and the national guard is sent into war. Plus the efforts in Iraq are very poorly handled in that the insurgency is gaining strength against its occupiers. Instead of respecting the Iraqi public, the American army is using terror tactics to try to gain cooperation and is building a deeper resentment and hatred among the population of Iraq. The war will go on and the American military will have to get its soldiers from somewhere.

I already work with enough people tht hate their Job. The last thing I need is Uncle Sam forcing more unhappy hippys in to the military.
FYI the Air Force is over maned they are trying to get rid of 16,000 people this year. We don't need a draft.

For the last time, a draft under current conditions is politically impossible.

There's been rumors around like that for years. Don't worry about it until it's in the newspaper headlines. When people really start making a fuss about it then you can worry.
