Ask a crap question, get crap answers from nerds!
Where does anyone get medals from in the United Kingdom? Could it be for military service? For Leadership Skills, For Bravery, For Distinguished Service? O.K. we know that the particular person you refer to is married to the Sovereign of Great Britain ( and therefore implicit in your question is that it is all a big fix) but if you knew anything of the character of The Duke of Edinburgh you would know he is not the sort of half human that would accept something not deserved.
