my mom is forcing us to move to a new state after this year. i will be an incoming 11th grader when i go to the new school. will this effect my grades and how well i do in school? other schools might have differnt standards and plus i have to get use to the school. not to mention that junior year will be the hardest. i really dont want to move right in the middle of high school. especially if it means losing my grades.

Only if you let it. You just have to keep concentrating no matter what.

You have a lot of control over how you do in school. There will probably be some differences, but they won't be huge. Curriculum is pretty standard now. This could be a really good experience. You'll be there long enough to make friends and you'll have been somewhere different. I'm sure this is scarey, but its probably scarey for your mom, too. If you've always been in the same place, its just hard to imagine moving.

If you think that it might work, try to convince your mom that you don't want to go. You'll need somewhere to live (like with a friend) and you'll have to convince her that you are responsible enough to take care of yourself. My sister's family moved just before her oldest son started his senior year in high school, and they let him stay. My mom was there to keep an eye on him, he lived with a family he had been babysitting for, and his parents paid his bills - like giving them money for his food.

It is possible to do this, but not by yelling or pouting. You have to come up with a good plan if you want to convince your mom. Whatever you do, this is your chance to prove how mature you are. Your mom is more likely to let you come back to visit more, give you more of a choice of colleges, and things like that if you act maturely and work hard to do well in your new school.

Well, even though you don't want to move, you don't have a choice in the matter. Don't let it phase you. You can do just as well in school there if you just keep up the way you've been doing things. I don't think junior year was the hardest either. They say senior year is supposed to be easy, but it's really not.

In terms of the new school, if it seems like it will, your mom can probably prevent that esp, if youare a good student. Also, you can get help from your old school as well. Most of the time it doesn't affect HS. It is very difficult for teens to leave their lives behind and start over. My kids had too and did it. It won't be easy but you can and will do it. Don't be afraid. It's a new adventure and you get to decide the ending!

Moving will not affect your grades in school. Just keep doing well as you did for 10 years and you will do fine. I had the same experience as you did in my elementary years. At first I had the same thought as you did, but after a few weeks in my new school, everything turned out fine.

Considering that you won't have any friends there, it may actually improve your grades; you won't have friends to waste time with, so all you'll do is study!
