Public School is a little different from private school. First off, it is way bigger. I remember walking into my first day of public school classes, and there were at least 30 kids in one class! Also, lunches are set up a bit differently depending on where you go to school. Sometimes it is 30 minutes sometimes it is 15, and most of the time, it is scheduled according to classes (most of the private schools I went to scheduled lunch according to grades). The classes are usually easier (if you are going to an average public school), and you will find many people who slack off. I remember thinking that some of those kids were crazy to argue with the teacher, especially when the school I came from had formality rules, i.e "sir" and "ma'am" were used a lot. People can be very judgmental at public schools, and announcing that you went to private school makes them think that you are unapproachable. If someone asks you, then tell them, but try not to say too much. It is a lot more scary (believe it or not) because you don't get to bond with as many people as you do in private school. Basically, be yourself, be friendly, and try to make friends by approaching people.
Good luck, it won't be that bad!!!

Hey, I can see what your feeling(kind of), even though I have been to public school my whole life last year in 8th grade it was scary because I went to a new school. If you are calm and just focus on school you will meet new people. Everybody is scared about their first day in a new school and you just have to be yourself and try to join some clubs to meet people with similar intrests. I'm going into 9th grade too so I can see the presssure of going into highschool, but your topped with being in public school. I dont know about private school but public scghools have cliques punks, preps, jocks, gangsters, and normal people, and geeks, just dont get into the wrong crowd, and dont try to act cool because your already cool. Good luck

Ok, i've been going to a private schools for years, i stopped going last year and it was a huge change for me, i live in california. 1st-dont believe anything people tells you, like the stupid elevator pass, one guys was like u need an elevator pass and i was like do i? and he was like ill sell you mine for 10 bucks, and i said like cool. And it was just like a trap. Fake. And teachers are assholes sometimes, depends. People are kinda friendly, but if u tell them u went to a private school, they will not b that friendly.

A lot depends on where you are. However, in any situation the best thing to do is be yourself. If others like you, good...if not, good. So long as you like yourelf, it doesn't matter much. Remember that MOST of your life will not contain these people.

Be confident in yourself and what you've learned to date. Don't be drawn in to the dramas that occur hourly there. Be skeptical of everything every student and teacher tells you.
You'll likely get blasted with rabid liberalism and environmentalism too.
