i have two budgies called buddy and pearlie and they are only 1yrs each . i read that budgies can live to a max of 8yrs so excellent you must care for them with lots and lots of love. i wonder what the world record is ?anybody know?

WOW congradulations
Most budgies usually live 3-6 years because of poor nutrition or lack of social interaction either with other birds, or humans
keep up what your doing and your budgie could live another 5-10 years.
The owrld record for longest lived budgie is 29 years and their is a report of a woman in Australia with a 27 year old budgie.

Budgies lives were extended by the makers of the bird food Trill... It was discovered that whatever was in the food other than seeds led to Budgies living a long a full life often doubling their lives from 7 to 14 years...
I think your Budgie probably has plenty more "tweet" in him yet......

My first Budgie, Pepsi , lived to the ripe old age of 17. Then again the one I had before the one I have now only lived for two years,,,you never know!

the average life span of a budgie or parekeet in captivity is about 6 years. they have been known to live to 15 with very good care. so congrads your a life span extending pet owner!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good job!!

12 - 20 yrs i think, not sure ask a vet,,,,,ive got 2 budgies, 2 cockatiels a senegal parrot and a ringed neck parakeet....Oh, and 4 cats!!

My trusty copy of 'birds for dummies' has informed me that the average life span is 8years, but with excellent care they can live into their teens, and sometimes even twenty!
