Take your kitten to the vet and have your vet look at your kitten. Your vet may prescribe Ovitrol for your kitten. You spray this stuff on a cotton ball and go over your kitten's entire body with it outside of it's eyes, nose, mouth and genitals. This will help the fleas to go away on your kitten. As for the rest of your house, vacumme your floors daily. Spray Home Defense on your carpets, beds, couches, chairs and any of upholstery in your house. Place your kitten in a cat carrier while you are spraying and make sure not to let your kitten out of the carrier until the spray has dried. This should kill all the fleas. Wash all your bedding and other clothes that may have been exposed to the fleas in hot soapy water. If by spraying Home Defense does not work, you may have to get a flea bomb for the house. This will ensure that the fleas are dead and stay dead.

When your kitten reaches 12 weeks old, you can buy from the vet a anti-flea killer that lasts up to 1 month called Frontline. It is applied once a month on the back of the kittens head between their shoulder blades right onto their skin. This will kill the flea eggs and fleas that are living off your kitten.

As for why the fleas are biting and bothering only you, is a guessing game of why. Are you diabetic at all? Sweet blood is quite attractive to fleas. If you are not, you may want to ask your family doctor this question if it continues.

Good luck to you and your kitten! May the two of you form a lasting bond of friendship and companionship for years to come!

Check with your vet about which flea treatments are safe for kittens that young. Many are not and can cause neurological damage or death if used improperly. I believe that Advantage can be used on kittens that young. It comes in different strengths for different sized cats. Wash all your bedding and vacuum the entire house well, as flea eggs can continue to hatch long after the original fleas are gone. The vaccuming will get rid of the flea eggs and prevent new fleas from hatching. Products such as Advantage and Frontline can keep the fleas off your cat if used regularly according to veterinary recommendations. You do not want the fleas to"live off the cat"! Kittens and even adult cats can die from flea bite anemia.

if the kitten has been in the bed...they're probably in the bed too. my vet had me get a shampoo called mycodex with carbaryl to wash them in after one kitten died because of fleas. it says not to use it on kittens under 12 weeks so consult a vet in your area on whether or not they approve. as long as you don't over do it the kitten should be fine. the trick is stopping the life cycle of the fleas...egg, larva, adult. there is a powder flea killer that you put on the carpets and vacuum up after 30 minutes that works pretty well. if you have any other animals, wash them too and get some front line from the vet's office to put on all of them but the kitten. it takes some time and effort to get them under control but it works. also, you should spray the yard with a bug killer because fleas can be brought in on your shoes, socks, and other animals...just be sure to follow the directions and not let kids or animals on the grass until it's dried. they can live off the kitten, but the kitten cannot live if it has fleas bad. it will eventually become anemic, and if not treated can and will die from infestation. mine went to the vet, got bathed in their shampoo, we fogged the house, sprayed the yard and used the powder on the carpets, and 2 weeks later, the one kitty became so infested again that he ended up dying so that's when my vet had me get a bottle of the shampoo from them, and do all of the cats and the rest of the kittens. he also had me use front line on the adults, and it has improved GREATLY!
i hope this helps you out and good luck!
