Genesis 1:26
26 Then God said, “Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness.
Genesis 3:22
22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of US in knowing good and evil.
Exodus3:2
And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.
This verses says that i was in the OUT of the midst of a bush i was never in the bush! I never talked from a bush, today no one will see a bush talk.
Now paul turns that scripture so god was in the bush, god was around that bush not in it!
Acts 7:30
“Now when forty years had passed, an angel appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.
Why do you think men were giving god food in offerings? Why do you think god would need food? http://www.rael.org/download.php?view.1

If one were to read into these passages literally, they sound absolutely absurd. However, if one realizes that these statements were written before the time of scientific enlightenment, and therefore don’t make them to be literal physical accounts of what transpired, but figurative statements intended to illuminate certain truths concerning our human condition, you can see that such passages have great value to our understanding of ourselves.

Nothing has made my faith look more patently ridiculous as the rhetoric spewed from the literalist. The fact that you have to even ask this question is a testament to the fact that religious fundamentalists have hijacked all that is good and noble about Christianity, and turned it into a meaningless debate between mythology and science. On behalf of reasonable Christians everywhere, I apologize for the absurd notion that the Bible was ever touted as a book science.

Actually, there is a species of shrub in the Middle East that produces an oil that is so volatile, it can spontaeously combust simply from direct sunlight.... The interesting thing is that the oil will burn quickly, and actually leave the plant unharmed in any way....

Problem is, when the stone age jackoffs that wrote the Bible witnessed this phenomenon, they attributed it to a God, because they had no understanding of sceince at the time. What shames me is that people STILL beleive this craptastic story, when we have modern scientific proof that bushes can combust for no apparent reason, and it has nothing to do with God...

God has evolved a lot through human history. A good book to read is "A History of God" by Karen Armstrong. I think Genesis represents a first draft of the monotheistic God. To think that an all-powerful being would be interested in the blood offerings of mere humans is hilarious. It's obvious that man made God in his own image.

Not because he was an alien of Raelian conception.

If you read Leviticus and Numbers carefully, you'll notice that sacrificial offerings are not consumed by God. They are consumed by the Levite priests, the relatives of Aaron. Numbers 15:1 suggests God's only direct involvement is in the odor of the sacrifice.
