There are signs that are not absolute, but can be clues. For example, airline pilots tend not to drive old rusty beaters. And, they tend not to wear clothes that look like were stolen from the homeless. They tend to be somewhat educated, beach bums are seldom given responsibility for hundreds of lives. They might have a hot motorcycle, or not.
Tell him you want to see what a pilot's license looks like.
On the other hand, except that telling a big lie sort of disqualifies a b/f, don't worry about it, but on the other hand also don't do anything stupid based on your theory that he might make a lot of money. If you are only going with him because you think he's a high-income pilot, you are just as bad as a man who lies about his job. I would go so far as to say you would deserve a lying b/f.
I worked with a young, divorced man. Certainly not especially ugly or uncouth as such. He was an electronic tech, and ran around all day with work jeans. At the end of the day, he would go home, and put on a really nice suit and hit the bars. he got so much 'action', but you know what? It was not possible to be angry at him, because the women he, um, 'had' deserved such treatment. They saw that expensive suit, and down they went. hee, hee.

First of all, what is so great about an airline pilot? And does that really make a girl interested? But if u do wanna know if he tells the truth then ask him to take u on a date to his working place. Show u around. Or even better like some say, ask him to give u some free air ticket or something.

By the way, why this question? Are you going to ditch him or get closer to him, if he is a pilot? And, if latter, what is so great about being a pilot? It is a very tough job. You have to fly a plane according to a schedule that is highly prone to delays which completely messes up your schedule. Have you seen the workplace? How can anyone sit in that place for even an hour? Most flights are just routine with no action or adventure. They don't get paid that great either. Only thing glamorous about the job is the walk down the concourse with the cap on. Well, even a steward can walk that walk.

Modern licences are blue with United States of America written accross the top. However, a licence does not mean he is a airline pilot. Ask him who he works for and what he flys. Then check out that airline on the web and make sure they fly that type of airplane.

Ask to see his licence and medical. We carry them.
If he was getting that drunk ask when he was going to fly again.
There are rules and he should know them inside and out.
Besides ask him to take you for a flight in a small plane.
If he can fly airliners he can fly small private.

Believe him, in time you'll see if he's telling the truth, if it's a lie, you'll know very soon, don't worry.
Just pay attention to what he says....
It's sad to doubt everything people says....give him the benefit of the doubt.

Ask him to explain what an ILS approach is or what max VNE is. If he by chance, can explain these, then ask to see his license.
