If you believe in souls, were there souls before time?

I believe that Stephan Hawkings has indicated that the universe is not constant in the sense that out of the ether; universes are always being born and dying; albiet trillions of years has passed and will go forward. That being the case, that our universe bubbled out of the ether from a multiverse; then it stands to reason that energy; and the soul as a form of energy; has always existed and will always exist; transforming from out of the life constant from one existance to the next. Meaning, that our souls exist in the here and now in our physical form and when our physical forms expire, our souls return to the universal constant until we are reborn again, as the physical is the only way we understand the universe that we reside in. Something akin to a drop of water in the ocean; it's there, in the ocean but difficult to distinquish from all the other water (life) around it. Therefore, souls have always existed, since there is no before time, as time before this universe, existed in other multiverses. When you think of life and the universe in this context, then there is no fear of death, since it is a transitioning point from one existance to the next. Hell, such that it is, is a condition of life, not a physical brimstone lake of fire place. And as a condition of life, can be changed by how one develops themselves internally.
